About Ed Southall
Ed Southall FixTheMusic

Ed studied Music and Politics at Queens' College, Cambridge University before embarking on a law conversion course in London.

Upon qualification, he joined international law firm Hogan Lovells and later moved to Brecher, a leading specialist law firm.

In late 2015, Ed had the seed of an idea for an Airbnb concept for booking outstanding live music for weddings and events...and FixTheMusic was born.

He decided to return to his earliest passion – music, and began working full-time on FixTheMusic.

Ed had learned piano, cello and cornet from an early age, but developed a keen interest in composition during his school years. Over several years, he was a composer on the prestigious National Youth Orchestra Composition programme.

Before Cambridge, Ed studied Composition at the Royal College of Music under Mark-Anthony Turnage CBE. He also studied under the esteemed British composers Paul Patterson and Diana Burrell.

Ed is a published composer and his works have been performed in concert throughout the world, as well as live on BBC Radio.

He first started composing in 2000, his first composition winning a prize in the European Piano Teachers’ Association Composition Competition.

Ensembles that have performed Ed's music include the Endymion Ensemble, The King’s Chamber Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra Sinfonietta, the Royal College of Music Sinfonietta, the Contemporary Consort and the Britten Sinfonia with James MacMillan at places such as London (the Purcell Room, the Warehouse, Steinway Hall and the British Council Building), Oxford, Cambridge, Jersey and New York City (The Juilliard School).

Ed is the main point of contact for clients and wedding planners on FixTheMusic. He has built up excellent relationships with some of the most prestigious wedding planners in the UK and Europe, especially in the South of France and Italy.

He has taken an active role in the design of the website, and is always on hand to cast his keen legal eye over any contracts when required!

He still performs as a pianist at weddings and events in the UK and internationally.

With several years of professional experience, he is regarded as one of the finest wedding pianists in London.

Ed can play a varied mix of modern pop, soul and indie covers, as well as more classical and traditional repertoire.

Ed lives in London with his partner Ngaio and his two young sons. Outside of work, Ed enjoys hiking, cycling and eating.
