What kind of musicians are listed on FixTheMusic?

We personally curate a high-quality and diverse selection of professional musicians in your area. This can range from a top wedding band to an esteemed local string quartet.

Further, three of the founders of FixTheMusic are professional musicians themselves. This means we’re perfectly positioned to judge the quality of musicians who apply to join FixTheMusic and we only select the very best.

What does it cost to use FixTheMusic? (It's free!)

It’s completely free to use FixTheMusic. Musicians will quote prices, and when you’ve agreed on the fee, there are no other costs to pay on top of this.

I’ve submitted an enquiry. Now what?

Details of your event will be sent to relevant hand-picked musicians—those who are available will be in touch with you via email.

When can I expect to receive offers from available musicians?

Most musicians respond within 48 hours. We’ll let you know if we expect there to be a delay.

We encourage all musicians on FixTheMusic to be as responsive as possible, and we monitor their response times so we can provide the best possible service to you.

How many offers will I receive?

You can expect to receive offers from up to 5 musicians. We only send you the most relevant matches from our pool of high-quality musicians.

Of course, if you made an enquiry with just one act and indicated that you are not interested in offers from any other musicians, you will only receive a response from that particular musician.

How do I contact musicians on FixTheMusic?

Just reply to the email with the musician’s offer and your message will go straight to them.

Once your booking has been confirmed, you can call or email the musician, or message them via our email system to communicate about your event.

How can I review the offers I’ve received?

Just log in to your FixTheMusic account where you can see an overview of the quotes you’ve received, as well as the musicians’ profiles.

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can re-set it here.

Can I browse musicians on FixTheMusic?

Yes, you can browse musicians and submit enquiries to them directly from their profile pages. On the enquiry form, you can indicate if you are interested in also receiving offers from other relevant musicians.

How do I confirm my booking?

When musicians send you a quote, their message will contain a link to log in and pay 35% of the total amount to confirm the booking. If your event is within 45 days, you will need to make full payment to secure the booking.

Using FixTheMusic’s secure checkout is required to make a booking, and it helps ensure that both parties are protected.

When is payment of the remainder due?

Payment of the remaining 65% of the total amount is due no later than 45 days before the event. We will notify you in good time about this. A secure payment link will be sent to you for payment by debit/credit card. After payment, you will receive confirmation that the full amount has been received by us.

Can I negotiate with musicians?

Yes, you can negotiate via our messaging system before confirming a booking.

Will my enquiry expire?

Although we don’t impose a strict time limit, musicians on FixTheMusic are in high demand so we recommend booking as early as possible.

What about contracts?

To provide protection to both parties, the messages between you and your musician will form the contract. Of course, you can ask your musician to summarise their offer to you before you confirm the booking. For more details, please read the Agreement between bookers and musicians, which governs the contract.

Is my payment secure?

Absolutely. Payments are processed securely by Stripe, a payment platform that exceeds the most stringent industry standards for security. Have a read of Stripe’s security features.

For your peace of mind, all payments are held securely until after the event, at which point payment is released to the musicians.

Can I pay in cash?

People still use cash? Get outta town, cowboy.

In all seriousness, we only take card payments because it lets us provide you with the best possible service, and saves you having to carry wads of cash on the night.

What happens if the musician I’ve booked cancels?

This is extremely rare as we only list professional musicians whose reputations depend on attending every event and providing the very best experience for you and your guests. In the highly unlikely event of a cancellation, not only will the musician do their best to secure a replacement, but we will also draw on our curated selection of high-quality musicians to provide other options for you.

Of course, if no replacement can be found for your event, you will receive a full refund.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Once a booking is made, the band may then start to turn down work for the same day, so it is possible that they may not receive any other bookings for the same day.

For this reason, if you wish to cancel a confirmed booking made via the site 45 days or more before the event, you will be entitled to a refund only to the extent you paid more than 35% of the fee. If you wish to cancel a confirmed booking made via the site within 45 days of the event, you will unfortunately not be entitled to any refund.

What happens if a band member is ill on the day of my event?

If a band member is ill, bands will almost always be able to provide a suitable replacement as, in general, they work with a small pool of trusted musicians who can deputise at short notice.

My venue has a sound limiter. Can I still hire a band?

Some venues have sound limiters, which will cause the band’s PA system to cut out if the environmental sound reaches a pre-determined decibel level set by the venue. All professional bands will have experience of working with a sound limiter—this usually involves something like using softer drumsticks or an electronic drum kit.

If your venue has a sound limiter, it is essential that you mention this to your band well in advance of the event so they can take necessary steps to accommodate it.

Can I see the band or musician before booking?

Bands and musicians on FixTheMusic play at private events such as weddings, corporate events and private parties, so this is not possible. However, the carefully curated selection of bands and musicians on the site have video and audio samples so you can get to know exactly how they look and sound.

How far in advance should I book musicians for my event?

For musicians in high demand, it’s always best to book as far in advance as possible, particularly if your event is on a Saturday during the summer months, or over the Christmas period — some particularly popular musicians will even take bookings for over 2 years in advance. Other musicians may not be able to commit to an event so far in advance.

Although your choice may be more limited if you’ve left it late to book musicians, our enquiry system is really useful for this, as we only send you offers from musicians available on your date — and remember, our professional musicians have been carefully curated by us to be of the very highest standard. Our system can usually find available bands and musicians for you even at the very last minute!

Do bands provide all of their own equipment?

Yes, all bands and musicians will provide all of their own equipment. They will let you know if this is not the case via our messaging system.

Do I need to pay VAT?

Most of the musicians on FixTheMusic don’t charge VAT, but if they do, the price they quote will include this.
