About Eight Strings – professional Violin & Cello Duo based in Athens, Greece
Eight Strings is a string duo based in Athens, Greece and is formed with unlimited love of music to perform at weddings, christenings, wedding proposals, baptisms, parties, corporate events and any special occasion.
Eight Strings consists of Ellie (violin) & Vasiliki (violoncello), both experienced musicians with the highest conservatory degree.
The duet has been well recognized for its music performance, having performed in numerous occasions, such as weddings, christenings, anniversaries, parties & various other ceremonies at icon venues all around Greece.
The repertoire of the duet ranges from classical songs to contemporary pieces:
- Classical (known abstracts from symphonic repertoire & arias from well-known operas)
- Contemporary (pop, rock, jazz music – specially arranged for violin & cello)
- Soundtracks from movies
Their performances usually run between one and two hours, depending on the needs of the event.
Eight Strings don’t require much space to set up, just a small area is enough, though they do prefer a shaded or covered spot to protect our instruments and ensure the best performance quality.
They can provide their own microphones, but they don’t offer DJ or playlist services in between or after their sets.
Setup is simple, they arrive about an hour before the performance and are usually ready within 20 minutes.
They are happy to take song requests, such as a first dance, but they do ask for a few months’ notice so we can prepare properly.
Eight Strings are very comfortable performing both indoors and outdoors and we’re always happy to adapt to unique settings like barns, beaches or other unusual venues.
