About Funked Up Brassers – professional brass band based in London

Funked Up Brassers are a well-known vintage styled wandering band who play the best in modern rock and pop in a fantastic and crazy vintage style, using the trad jazz instrumentation of sousaphone, banjo, sax and percussion.

An Edwardian Rock band transported to the 21st Century, Funked Up Brassers meld the Music Hall of the 1930s to the Rock of today.

We're regularly booked to perform for weddings and events at Royal Windsor Racecourse in Berkshire and Voewood House in Norfolk.

More information about Funked Up Brassers

Using Edwardian period instruments, they foray out into the musical establishment to create their own unique sound for weddings, festivals and private parties.

Funked Up Brassers truly learnt their trade on the street. They started busking in 2000 and, due to their no-holds-bar performances, which involved accosting members of the audience and whipping the crowds into a frenzy, they found they were offered many ‘indoor’ bookings at festivals, weddings and corporate events.

They have since toured in Portugal, Istanbul, Germany, Sweden, Luxembourg, Italy, Switzerland, France and Holland.

They will perform normally as a 4 piece ensemble but can work as a trio or expand to a 6 piece ensemble; the trio being sousaphone, banjo and drums (with 2 part vocal harmonies).

The quartet will add a lead instrument, such as violin, brass, accordion or guitar (3 part vocal harmonies).

When playing covers at functions they rip apart the modern textures of popular rock/pop/dance tunes and put them back together with Funked Up Brassers flavour.

Their repertoire is constantly being thought over and updated to, from the word ‘go’, get that dance floor jumpin’.

All the while interacting with the crowd with their unique sense of humour and badinage.

We have full public liability insurance and PAT certificates available upon request.

Wedding receptions

A live dance band at a wedding is the thing that will make or break a wedding, and it is essential to have the right band for your guests to achieve maximum dancing wildness.

Funked Up Brassers will endeavour to create the atmosphere of a musical riot

We don’t just hang about on the stage performing our uplifting renditions of pop/rock/dance tunes, but will invade the audience and perform and interact up-close with your guests, as you can see in the video.

We play about 60+ weddings a year, and get our bookings mainly by word of mouth, which is the ultimate judge of a wedding band.

Also, we’re the band that many venues will put forward first as a ‘preferred service provider’ for many venues; just ask ‘The Londesborough’ in London!

We use the instruments of yesterday (sousaphone, banjo, trumpet, drums) to create our unique covers of modern and classic tunes, from pop to heavy metal, dance to rap.

DJ service at wedding receptions

Once the band has played then the party has to continue on into the evening, we are proud to keep the mp3s rolling on into the night.

Essentially we will play what you want. You can either submit a list of tunes you would like played, or, internet being available at the venue, we’ll purchase, via iTunes (if we don’t already have it) whatever tracks you want, upon request, on the night.

As well as the solid-as-rock IBS PA, we’ll be supplying disco lights with strobes, lasers, and smoke (if requested beforehand as many venues have a prohibition on smoke).
