Wedding Entertainment

Whether you require music for the ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast – or all three, we will make sure you have the perfect musical accompaniment to your special day.

South East String Quartet are highly experienced and will time your entrance and exit music perfectly having impeccable judgment during ceremonies, so you can be free of worrying about the details on the day.

We have traditional classical wedding ceremony favourites, and a huge list of up-to-date modern chart hits to chose from!

Plus songs from musicals, films and jazz allow us to cater perfectly for literally all tastes and styles. We would be delighted to discuss the choice of music in advance, and give helpful advice to ensure that your wedding is both memorable and unique.

We are very lucky to have members that can arrange music and if you have a special request we don’t already cover we will go the extra mile and arrange that piece especially for you! (Suitable notice must be given before the event.)

The most common format for weddings is as follows but we can play for as long as you want and where you want too!

  • Wedding music before the ceremony, as the guests arrive.
  • Ceremony begins with entrance music – during which South East String Quartet performs a specially selected piece of wedding music.
  • Signing of the register – South East String Quartet play appropriate wedding background music or specially selected wedding songs.f
  • Exit of the happy couple – a lively piece of wedding music specially selected by the couple for their exit.
  • Music as photos are taken, and throughout drinks reception.
  • Music for part or all of the wedding breakfast.

South East String Quartet is happy to travel to another venue if needed. We will tailor the music to create the perfect atmosphere for celebration and sophistication!

As a wedding quartet we often play outdoors during the drinks reception, but some of our instruments are 200 years old or more, and need to be sheltered from direct sunlight. In the event of rain we would need to move indoors.

We also provide a highly unique wedding music service where you and your guests can even get involved with the music as we provide a live requests show!

We’ll provide the list and your guests get to choose whatever they want to hear – like a live, interactive jukebox you will have the chance to have four musicians play your every request.

It doesn’t get much more bespoke than South East String Quartet playing the soundtrack to your day!

About Kimberley

Kimberley is an accomplished violinist and pianist with a history of performing on stage at top classical venues (The Royal Festival Hall, The Royal Albert, RAM Duke’s Hall) and London nightclub venues (Café De Paris, Shoreditch House, 24:London).

Kimi dreamed of being a musician from the age of 8 and after playing violin for two months! As a student she was awarded a fine instrument loan and was appointed leader of the Hertfordshire Schools’ Symphony Orchestra.

Simultaneously, she led four other top orchestras of Hertfordshire, touring Barcelona and playing solo in Barcelona Cathedral and RAM Duke’s Hall. Upon leaving for university she was awarded the most promising musician award and won the Joe Selo Ensemble Competition leading ‘The Cabaret Quartet’.

Going on to study at RHUL with a Founders’ Scholarship she graduated with a Bmus (Hons) degree, specialising in solo performance (taught at GSMD by Prof. Mark Knight), and quartet performance.

Kimi has spent the last year expanding her violin playing, being commissioned to record for TV and performing at many live venues and looks forward to performing with South East String Quartet throughout the year.

"Thank you so much for performing at our wedding ceremony. We loved hearing you play some of our favourite songs, and it made the day feel even more special! Sorry I didn't get a chance to thank you in person on the day, it was all a bit of a whirlwind! I will be recommending you to family and friends!"

"We were recommended South East String Quartet to play for our wedding ceremony and reception, and we will definitely be recommending here! The music was great, and all our guests commented how lovely the music was on the day. Booking was easy, lots of choice (including options to supply music sheets – time permitting – if you have something specific you’d like played). And the trio arrived in good time on the day and were extremely professional!"

"My wife & I had South East String Quartet perform at our wedding on Saturday 13th August. We first encountered them at The Elijah show as the band had them perform live at a special showcase at Camden Underworld. We were very fond of the strings performance on that record and were impressed seeing it live! It was that night we knew we had to have them perform at our wedding! Fast forward and our dream came true! Kim was so easy to communicate with – she knew what we were going for and was more than happy to accommodate our song requests – from having some pieces from The Elijah record performed to having modern tracks as well! The musicians themselves are very talented and were more than happy to adapt on the day – moving themselves from the ceremony area to the reception area of the lawn in the venue of Deans Court, Wimborne. From start to finish, everyone at South East String Quartet were just excellent, and we cannot thank them enough for everything! If you are looking for a beautiful, talented string quartet to perform for your event, then they are the group for you!"
