From Django Reinhardt swing tunes, traditional gypsy jazz songs and French chansons to the classic jazz standards of the Great American Songbook, this refined outfit travels back in time to deliver high-quality musicianship with a serious touch of class.
Following the critically acclaimed debut album Roseland, Swing 39 released their second studio album Got A Little Rhythm! on the 5th of May 2023.
From Django to Billie Holiday, Sidney Bechet to Monk, Gypsy Jazz to Swing, Got a Little Rhythm! takes you on a journey through some of the band’s favourite tunes arranged in their own style.
The breathtaking beauty of Irene Serra’s vocals blends perfectly with the string ensemble of swinging violin, rhythmic guitars and solid double bass, with some tasty, well-crafted trumpet melodies. In this album, each individual voice has a chance to shine, soar and weave on the rhythmic base they emerge from.
With Irene Serra’s captivating vocals, Nathan Mansfield on soaring violin andy Ruiz Palma and Sol Grimshaw on melodic, rhythmic and pumping guitars, all underpinned by the solid and tasteful bass of Amy Baldwin, Swing 39 is made up of highly experienced, in-demand performers who have played in many prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican Centre, the Southbank Centre, the Royal Festival Hall and Ronnie Scott’s.
