This is your special event, and the quizmaster will liaise with you beforehand to determine the tone, theme and level of difficulty of the questions. The fun rounds include:
Kazoozies At The Movies
A live performance round in which our host plays a song made famous by a particular movie. Instead of singing the words, the tune is played on a kazoo. There are three points per question: the song title, the artist and the movie name.
Gone in 60s
Using studio broadcasting software, the host displays images of famous people for less than one second, and guests have to say who they saw. There is one point per question.
Lyric Splice
Live performance round in which the music of one song plays, but the words of another track are song top of it. Your guests get one point each for the song title, the artist of the melody, plus the song title and the artist for the lyrics.
Dr Glitch
The audience hears a 'doctored' sample of music – this is either reversed or pitch-shifted, or similar – so that it's hard to recognise what the original was. Guests have to name the artist and song. There are two points per question.
Face Swap
A picture of a celebrity's body with a different musical celebrity's face displays on the screen. Guests have to identify both stars. There are two points per question.
Trivial Teasers
These are usually interspersed throughout the quiz (i.e. between rounds). They are general knowledge questions which flow as wordplay out of an initially 'musical' topic. So, for example, It's been 14 years since Muse's single 'Starlight' peaked at number 13 in the UK charts. Can you tell me how long it's been since the starlight we see from the earth's nearest star was originally emitted? (This is all delivered deadpan over a 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' style musical bed). The trivia round offers an opportunity to liven up the quiz and keep it interesting for some people who might not know very much about music at all. There usually is only one point per Trivial Teaser.
Big Theme Mashup
The finale can be a two to three-minute mashup of songs all performed live with a theme that links them all. A theme could be anything: a word in the song titles, a common nationality to the artists, a year of song release, etc. Guests have to identify as many songs/artists as possible and identify the theme. The round is often played twice.
The final part of the show is the emcee revealing the answers. Guests can enter their responses into a Google Form as they go or the host can check answers.
Alternatively, a colleague checks, while the host tells the answers to the guests. Either option is ideal for clients who want to know who has 'won' the quiz.
Otherwise, guests mark their answers. For a large number of guests who wish to the answers marked correctly and they want to know the winner there, and then the host can play one or two bonus rounds.
'Fastest Finger First' consists of snippets of songs and suddenly stop, encouraging guests to be the first person to type the correct lyric that should immediately follow into the chat window. This option gives a colleague enough time to go through the answers data and give back participants' scores.
Fancy going bigger? Upgrade your virtual event to a full band experience. Four skilled musicians play the clues live-streamed to your venue, and your guests can interact with the host and each other to guess the answer. Fun, engaging and highly entertaining, the Virtual Music Quiz Night is a perfect addition to your online event.
"What a great experience! We booked Jay and his amazing quiz for our first Virtual Summit of 2023. The team loved it! It’s getting so hard to find cool things to do online without getting tired of doing the same things over and over and FixTheMusic was simply great! The whole process was super easy and I got messages from so many great musicians and performers that I had a hard time choosing. I would definitely book with FixTheMusic again and I highly recommend them!"
"Great and entertaining team building activity! The whole group had so much fun and everybody was engaged and felt energized thanks to Jay’s great enthusiasm. We could personalize also the event thanks to a great collaboration with Jay but he took care of everything from the beginning till the end. Thanks a lot Jay for it!"
