Ricky Sax is an internationally acclaimed, creative sax player based in Portugal, who began studying his instrument at the Luis Maldonado Rodrigues Music Conservatory in Portugal at the age of 13.
He is now a regular at destination weddings and high-end clubs and bars throughout Portugal and Europe.

During his service in the Portuguese Air Force, Ricky played saxophone in the Air Force Band, earning honours for "High Artistic Value" as well as being awarded the Copper Medal.
Always dedicated to expanding his art, Ricky Sax has taken master classes with cutting edge musicians including Danilo Perez, Greg Osby, Miguel Zenon, Mulgrew Miller, Joe Lovano, George Garzone, Antonio Hart, Mitchell J. Fennel, Rudresh Mahanthappa, among other esteemed artists.
In between a full schedule of international club dates, concerts, and performances as a regular featured soloist with the hugely popular band, The Black Mamba and with superstar pop artist, Anselmo Ralph of the Voice (Portuguese edition), Ricky plays sax with the house band on Portuguese TV's IDOL and tours with his own band.

Em Português
Ricky Sax nasceu a 17 de Fevereiro de 1986 no Concelho de Torres Vedras.
Começou a estudar Saxofone, em 1999, na Banda dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Torres Vedras.
Em 2001 ingressou no Conservatório de Música “Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues”, onde frequentou aulas durante cinco anos, com o professor Vítor Carvalho.
Ainda no seu último ano de curso ingressou no Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa.
Em 2004 começou a estudar Jazz na «Escola de Jazz de Torres Vedras» com o professor José Menezes.
Em 2006 ingressou na Banda da Força Aérea Portuguesa onde esteve até 2013 como Saxofonista Alto. Pelo serviço prestado, trouxe um Louvor Público por vários valores, entre eles a “elevada qualidade artística e solística” e uma medalha de cobre de comportamento exemplar.
No ano lectivo 2009/2010, finalizou o 3º e último ano do curso de Jazz na Academia de Amadores de Música em Lisboa e no ano seguinte iniciou os estudos na Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa na vertente de Saxofone Jazz.
Leccionou Saxofone na Escola Internacional de Torres Vedras e na Academia BBVTV, e atualmente lecciona apenas a nível particular.
Realiza ainda concertos com várias bandas conjuntos e a solo, tanto a nível nacional como internacional, dentro de vários géneros musicais.
A sua ambição levou-o a estudar diariamente e a investir ao máximo na sua formação, o que o transformou num músico com um talento reconhecido não apenas pelo público que o acompanha, como pelos seus colegas de profissão.
