About The Roaming Folks – folk style pop covers band based in London

Welcome to the eclectic world of The Roaming Folks!

A carnival of spontaneous musical wonder, born from the chance combination of three somewhat brilliant, like-minded musicians, on one dark, cold winter's eve, early in the year of two thousand and nine...

Please take a look at our 2024 SET LIST

The Roaming Folks are an eccentric, continental-esque ensemble, blending violin, guitar, accordion, and 3-part male harmonies.

We're regularly booked to perform for weddings and events at Karczma Młyniska in Poland, Trinity Buoy Wharf in London and High Billinghurst Farm in Godalming, UK.

More information about The Roaming Folks

We cover a hugely varied repertoire of music ranging from the 1800s to the present – from Muse to Dizzee Rascal, Frank Sinatra to Britney Spears.

We play folky covers in our own quirky, inimitable style, complete with a good dash of comedy and theatre!

Whatever your taste; with our genre-spanning concoction of music we can't fail to entertain!

So please come in, have a jig, and join in the maniacal musical madness that is..The Roaming Folks!

Are you tired of hearing those same cliched covers of Mr. Brightside and Summer of 69..? Do you have a wedding, party, or event fast approaching and you're looking for something...a little different to entertain your guests? Say, a quirky trio of musicians...?!

We can perform either acoustic or amplified – all our creatively arranged covers in our upbeat, folky style, clear as day from our handy PA, suitable for a crowd of up to 150!

ALTERNATIVELY...unlike that gear-laden band tethered to the stage, one of our most popular and unique features is that as an acoustic act, we will ROAM your event..!

This allows us to play up close and personal, ensuring every guest hears us as we play our somewhat mad and quirky music, spreading theatrical atmosphere wherever we go!

We make a habit of interacting with our audience where we can, whether serenading the happy couple, getting people involved, or spontaneously 'attacking' someone (in the musical sense)! So be prepared!

Everyone loves a wedding, and none more than us! Anyone can hire a function band – but a quirky, contemporary folk trio is thinking well outside the box!

We will complement the occasion not just musically, but aesthetically and charmingly!

With no drums to worry about, we take up minimal space, or we can roam the event and play to your guests personally, whilst providing a soundtrack that will ensure your guests never forget your special day!

Whether your event is set in stone, or just an idea floating around in your head, don't hesitate to get in contact if you think you might like to have us play for you!

We always make every effort to be flexible to your needs, and are happy to have a chat about any special requests (including a specially arranged song favourite)!

We can include a saxophonist, double bass or other instruments by request.

We have varying price packages to suit your budget, and we provide a quote based on your exact requirements.

"So glad we booked The Roaming Folks. They were really communicative from the start which made the process easy and took the stress out of wedding planning. They entertained our guests thoroughly during our drinks reception and even surprised me and the groom with a lovely rendition of Amore at the entrance to the reception. Would highly recommend booking them for your future event!"

"Hi Stephen, Thanks for making our wedding so special. Everyone said how brilliant you guys were. And how it was one of the best bits of entertainment they'd seen at a wedding. I'm sorry if I wasn't that chatty or very helpful with much. Soooo much going on. I hope you got fed and watered ok. Once again thanks for making the day the best day of my life!"

"These guys were absolutely amazing! Communication was great throughout the planning process and Stephen made sure we were happy with every step. The band even played a requested song for us when we came in for dinner. We really wanted something quirky and a bit different and these guys really delivered it and suited the vibe we wanted to achieve down to a tee! I can’t recommend them enough! Sad it’s all over because I could listen to your music all day! Tasha and Alan."

"We booked The Roaming Folks for our ceremony on the 25th and also for a garden party on the 26th. They were easy to communicate with, regarding the booking and set list, and were always enthusiastic when discussing our events and the songs we would like from their playlist. Our guests loved them and their music and style certainly added to both days. I can't imagine either event without them and their music. Highly recommended."

"Thank you for an amazing evening of entertainment at my 50th. You really got the party going and were great at mingling with the guests and picking the most appropriate songs to serenade them with or get them up and dancing, which was exactly what I wanted! Everyone thought you were brilliant!!! You were great to communicate with before the event which made it all a lot less stressful too! I’m looking forward to seeing you again at my friend's wedding after she booked you on the night because you were so good!!!!!"

"The Roaming Folks were an absolute HIT. Their breezy music for the ceremony was perfect for our outdoor occasion, as was their walkabout for the drinks reception in the gardens. They totally kept to the brief we gave them, even though it was slightly different to their usual repertoire. Their serenade to the bride & groom at the end of the day was a class act! If you want a bohemian young group to make your day a little different, then I would highly recommend The Roaming Folks; they were all a pleasure to deal with."
