What clients loved most about The Roaming Folks

  • A soundtrack that follows the room: From the aisle to drinks in the garden and the evening party, they adjust songs and approach to the mood, even serenading couples with a personal favourite.
  • Roaming sets with real connection: They weave between guests, turning familiar songs into intimate serenades and playful, up-close moments rather than leaving everyone at the edge of a stage.
  • Your songs, woven into the day: Couples praise their willingness to learn aisle music, honour requests and shape a set around the atmosphere they have in mind.
  • Acoustic charm, then a proper party: Start with roaming acoustic music and move into an amplified set when the celebration calls for it, a combination that had guests dancing late into the night.
  • Calm, thoughtful planning: Stephen and the band are repeatedly praised for prompt, easy communication and for taking the time to understand what matters to each couple.

About The Roaming Folks – folk style pop covers band based in London

Welcome to the eclectic world of The Roaming Folks!

A carnival of spontaneous musical wonder, born from the chance combination of three somewhat brilliant, like-minded musicians, on one dark, cold winter's eve, early in the year of two thousand and nine...

We're listed on FixTheMusic's 19 Best Roaming Bands in the UK 🏆

The Roaming Folks are an eccentric, continental-esque ensemble, blending violin, guitar, accordion, and 3-part male harmonies.

We cover a hugely varied repertoire of music ranging from the 1800s to the present – from Muse to Dizzee Rascal, Frank Sinatra to Britney Spears.

We're listed on FixTheMusic's 31 Best Wedding Bands in the UK 🏆

We're regularly booked to perform for weddings and events at Karczma Młyniska in Poland, Trinity Buoy Wharf in London and High Billinghurst Farm in Godalming, UK.

More information about The Roaming Folks

We play folky covers in our own quirky, inimitable style, complete with a good dash of comedy and theatre!

Whatever your taste; with our genre-spanning concoction of music we can't fail to entertain!

So please come in, have a jig, and join in the maniacal musical madness that is..The Roaming Folks!

Are you tired of hearing those same cliched covers of Mr. Brightside and Summer of 69..? Do you have a wedding, party, or event fast approaching and you're looking for something...a little different to entertain your guests? Say, a quirky trio of musicians...?!

View our complete list of UK roaming bands ➡️

We can perform either acoustic or amplified – all our creatively arranged covers in our upbeat, folky style, clear as day from our handy PA, suitable for a crowd of up to 150!

ALTERNATIVELY...unlike that gear-laden band tethered to the stage, one of our most popular and unique features is that as an acoustic act, we will ROAM your event..!

This allows us to play up close and personal, ensuring every guest hears us as we play our somewhat mad and quirky music, spreading theatrical atmosphere wherever we go!

We make a habit of interacting with our audience where we can, whether serenading the happy couple, getting people involved, or spontaneously 'attacking' someone (in the musical sense)! So be prepared!

Weddings

Everyone loves a wedding, and none more than us! Anyone can hire a function band – but a quirky, contemporary folk trio is thinking well outside the box!

We will complement the occasion not just musically, but aesthetically and charmingly!

With no drums to worry about, we take up minimal space, or we can roam the event and play to your guests personally, whilst providing a soundtrack that will ensure your guests never forget your special day!

Whether your event is set in stone, or just an idea floating around in your head, don't hesitate to get in contact if you think you might like to have us play for you!

We always make every effort to be flexible to your needs, and are happy to have a chat about any special requests (including a specially arranged song favourite)!

We can include a saxophonist, double bass or other instruments by request.

We have varying price packages to suit your budget, and we provide a quote based on your exact requirements.

"What a wonderful band! They have a great sound, a unique take on popular classics and such great energy that brings the crowd together. They also played live for our couples dance session which made the event so beautiful. So glad we found them and if you want a band that know how to work an audience, plus they are fun and versatile, then The Roaming Folks will be the best choice! Same time next year chaps?! x"

– Rachael Carter, 23 July 2026, festival at Finsbury Circus Gardens, London, UK

"5 stars are not enough! A very fun band of excellent quality with a brilliant repertoire. But, the most important thing they bring is an intensely personalised attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble in the planning. Every effort was made to understand the event and what was important to us as the clients. There was zero sense of bashing out a standardised set list. In fact, new music was even learned to make this event as special as possible. Timings were immaculate and The Roaming Folks went out of their way to work with the other staff at the event. Not to mention, it was intensely hot and they did not wilt, or even hint at any difficulties. HIGHLY RECOMMEND."
