How much does it cost to hire wedding jazz bands?
Wedding jazz bands set their own rates, and the cost depends on the band you choose. For example, a small local jazz band will usually be more affordable than a popular band that travels across the UK. The average cost can range between £1,650 to £4,000.
How long do wedding jazz bands typically perform?
Most jazz bands offer two-hour bookings, but you can split their time into separate sets. For example, some people choose for the band to play for half an hour at the drinks reception, then perform an hour and a half set.
Can jazz bands perform our first dance song in their style?

What happens during the band’s breaks—do they provide background music?
Many bands offer a laptop DJ service to fill the gaps between performances. Alternatively, you can hire a professional DJ to keep your guests on the dance floor.

What happens if a musician is unavailable on the day of the wedding?

Yes, they do. Public liability insurance provides protection for the band in the event of injuries or property damage. Many venues will also request that jazz bands have the necessary licenses and insurance.
Are there additional costs, such as travel expenses or accommodation, for jazz bands?

Can we watch the jazz band perform live before booking or see video demos?
You won't be able to see the band play jazz music at a wedding, but many will play at live shows and have videos on their website, which enables you to view their renditions of jazz classics and decide whether it's what you're looking for.
Do jazz bands take requests on the night or stick to a pre-agreed setlist?
Many bands have set lists and will let you customise the songs. For example, while some bands play to classic jazz standards, they'll also adapt their songs to include modern hits, post-modern jukebox songs, and swing band music.
Please contact the band to ask if they'll accept requests on the night. Some will be willing to accommodate you, but there may be an extra fee if the song is outside their usual repertoire.
