How Much Will It Cost to Hire an Indie-Rock Band?
The prices for local indie-rock trios begin at £1,200, with four-piece bands costing on average £1,600. Musicians always tailor their quote for your event and requirements. The average price for an indie rock wedding band is £1,550.
If you wanted a larger band, the price would increase. Some bands can add a saxophone to the line-up or another vocalist, for example.
We are also frequently asked how long the indie rock bands will perform at your wedding. The answer will vary between individual bands, but most indie rock bands will perform 2 x 60 minute live sets.
Some will perform for a bit less than this (e.g. 2 x 45 minute live sets). In between the live music and afterwards, the majority of indie rock bands will provide a laptop playlist / DJ service until 12 midnight. If you want the indie rock band to perform later than this time, then there may be an additional cost.

“What a fantastic band The Crossbones are. They had the dance floor full from start to end, getting involved with the crowd and making sure everyone had a good time. The band were incredibly accommodating with our first dance request, before/after playlists, and we're flexible with changes to songs and times on the night. “We first saw The Manhattans playing at a friend’s wedding and loved their set list - they played a brilliant mix of pop, rock and classics which got everyone on the dance floor. It was the best time I’d ever had at a wedding, and that’s what I wanted my guests to think too, so we booked them. Sam was brilliant while we were booking, very friendly and responsive. He and the band learned our first dance song, 11:11 by The Arkells and performed it brilliantly on the night. The whole band were super friendly and approachable. They brought all their kit, including lighting, and we didn’t notice them doing their set up or pack down. “Si & the band were absolutely incredible from start to finish. Super easy communication with Si in the lead up to the wedding - he was quick to reply, incredibly friendly and was very flexible with accepting requests! I am so grateful. We had some fairly difficult weather on our wedding day, which made for a last minute change in our reception venue plans (from outside to under a tipi). Si completely made the atmosphere and vibe - a number of our guests were having a little boogie, and I would say he was almost entirely responsible for creating an awesome vibe in our reception in what was less than ideal June weather. The rest of the band then joined for the evening, for an equally incredible set. Getting the music right was one of my biggest things for the wedding (I wanted a full dancefloor of people dancing) and The Tourists absolutely delivered. Dancefloor was full all night. What Kind of Events Do the Indie Rock Bands Perform At?
The indie rock bands on FixTheMusic perform at hundreds of weddings each year, as well as charity and corporate events. The bands are particularly popular at events with a fairly young crowd – often in their late 20s or 30s, who grew up with some of the classic indie-rock tunes that the bands cover.
All professional bands on FixTheMusic have Public Liability Insurance and use PAT-certified electrical equipment – these are requirements of most wedding venues in the UK.
Most of our indie rock wedding bands are also capable of performing at venues with sound or noise limiters, often by using hot rods or brushes rather than conventional drumsticks, or using an electric drum kit.
What Sort of Music Do the Indie-Rock Bands Perform?
Our indie-rock bands will cover songs by bands such as Mumford & Sons, Blink 182, The Strokes, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Kings Of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys. Most of the songs feature electric guitar, bass, drums and male or female vocals (or sometimes both).
Most bands take one or two requests to learn before your event – usually for your first dance if you are booking the band for a wedding.
Indie-rock bands tend to be either a 3-piece band or 4-piece band. If you prefer a fuller sound from the band, you'd be better booking a 4-piece indie-rock band; but if your venue has limited space or if you're trying to keep costs down, go for a 3-piece indie-rock trio. The bands perform a mix of indie, rock, pop and folk covers.
What does "indie" mean?
Indie music traditionally referred to music that was produced independently from commercial record labels – it was supposed to be free from the typical constraints that come with producing music for a commercial audience. These days, indie music does include artists represented by big household labels and for most famous indie bands, they aren't strictly "independent" anymore. However, the style of music continues – with an emphasis on slightly heavier, guitar-based sounds.
