More Information About Our Opera Singers for Hire in Italy

At FixTheMusic, we provide operatic singers and classical singers for hundreds of weddings and private events each year.

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about hiring an opera singer...

What kind of music will the opera singer perform?

Our singers perform a vast range of opera music – popular arias and songs from operatic classics. Composers whose music our singers perform include Verdi and Puccini, and other famous Italian opera composers.

The singers also perform crossover music, including pop music sung in an operatic style, similar to the songs sung by Andrea Bocelli. Songs from hit musicals also form part of the opera singers' repertoire.

What kind of events will the opera singers perform at?

On FixTheMusic, our opera singers are booked to perform at a wide variety of events. The most common are weddings and corporate events, but they also entertain at charity functions, product launches, festivals, gala balls, hotels, restaurants and birthday parties.

What line-ups are available with most opera singers?

Our opera singers often perform as solo artists – usually with a professional backing track accompanying them. They are also available to perform alongside a pianist, string quartet, or even a full orchestra, as well as other singers (e.g. a duet of soprano and tenor is very popular).

How long does an opera or classical singer usually perform for?

The standard sets an opera singer will perform are 2 x 30 or 2 x 45 minute sets. This could be split into shorter sets if you prefer.

The singer will always confirm this with you when they respond to your enquiry.

Singers tend not too perform for too long, as it can be very demanding on their vocal cords and singing for longer period of times can cause damage.

The standard arrival time for a band is 5pm. This gives them enough time to get set up and carry out their sound check. They will then finish by 12 midnight. If you wanted them to perform later into the night (e.g. until 1am or 2am) then there would likely be an additional cost for this.

Is it possible to see the operatic singers perform live before I book?

As most professional opera singers perform at private events the majority of the time (such as weddings and corporate functions), it can often not be possible to see your chosen musician performing live before you book. That said, some public gigs do occur now and then, so feel free to ask your singer or musician if they have anything coming up.

How much space will a singer or opera ensemble take up?

You should consider that most musicians would need around 1.5 square metres each, and others (e.g. a pianist or keyboard player, or drummer) would need a bit more space than this. In addition, there would need to be space for the band's PA system and speakers. Our musicians are happy to be flexible though – just ask them about the dimensions at your venue if you're concerned and they will let you know what the ideal band size would be.

How loud will the singer or opera group be?

If your wedding venue has a sound or noise limiter installed, then you will want to consider the volume of the singer you are hiring. You can read more about this topic in our guide to sound limiters.

Many of our musicians can perform without amplification – but they are only really suitable as background music or where the number of guests at your event is relatively small. If you want the band to provide music for dancing (e.g. at your wedding reception), then you'll want the band to be amplified through their PA system.

Should I hire an opera singer or operatic band for my wedding?

Yes! Our opera singers and classical ensembles are perfect for every part of your wedding day: from providing low-key music for your ceremony (e.g. a couple of songs while your guests wait, and some music as you walk down the aisle), to background music for your drinks reception in the afternoon, to a larger performance – perfect for during your wedding dinner.
