The Wildcards formed in early 2003 in Hertfordshire as an original band. After meeting in 2002, Zac (vocals, guitar) and Matt (drums) spent six months writing and recording music before working with various bass players to produce the distinctive The Wildcards sound.

3 years was then spent gigging around the country where they shared the stage with such acts as Enter Shikari, The Subways and Fun Loving Criminals.

The Wildcards music was also heard worldwide with repeated airtime on British Forces Radio, Pirate FM and Absolute Radio and also provided the soundtrack for surfers and skaters on Channel Four’s Extreme Sports Show.

Further success came after winning the UK Emergenza music festival in 2006 which in turn saw them whisked to perform at Germany’s Glastonbury equivalent, The Taubertal Festival.

This led to further tours of the UK and the band recording debut single ‘Slide Away‘ in 2008.

Now in their thirties (their prime!!) the band have decided to take a different direction and are reaching a larger audience by playing a predominately covers based set.

This has meant bookings in many venues that would not have booked the band previously.

The band now pride themselves as being one of the greatest covers acts in the UK whilst continuing to promote their original music.

The Wildcards were recently booked on FixTheMusic for a wedding at Washingborough Hall Hotel in Lincoln.

How do The Wildcards sound like a 4 piece with just 3 members?

Without blowing our own trumpets too much, it's because of years of experience and bags of talent. The Wildcards have been performing together for over ten years so everything clicks, the harmonies are flawless and the rhythm section is the tightest in the land.

Nothing but top quality equipment is used and Zac's voice has a full, rich tone. All of this plus the huge effort and energy the band puts in adds up to one hell of a sound.

How much room does the band need?

The more space the better (Matt is 6 feet 7 tall!) but we can squeeze into tight spaces when required. A 10-foot square is about the smallest area we would need for all of the equipment.

How loud are you?

The Wildcards are a full on party rock band so we are not quiet. For smaller venues please bear in mind that the full band are a very full-sounding outfit – this is pure party Rock 'N' Roll after all so please check with your venue if they have any noise restrictions.

If the volume levels need restricting we can provide, electronic drums or acoustic instruments to keep the levels down. Please ask about these options when booking if you require them. We want your event to be everything you want it to be so let us know your requirements.

How long do The Wildcards perform for?

The Wildcards offer either 2 x 1-hour sets or 3 x 40-minute sets. If you require more this can be arranged but may affect the price. Please don't be afraid to ask when you book if you do require additional material.

Do The Wildcards provide their own sound and lighting?

The band have a 1600 Watt PA which will be provided and is perfect for most wedding and party venues. However, if you have chosen an exceptionally large venue you may want to consult with them as to if they provide a house PA that's designed specifically for them.

This is to ensure the fullest sound possible. A standard lighting rig is also be provided by us but again for larger venues you may want to discuss if they have their own equipment.

Can The Wildcards perform our first dance?

Of course, we will give anything a go and if the song does not suit the style of the band than we can play the original through our PA to ensure you have the best representation for your big day.

Can The Wildcards perform songs we request?

Once again we will try anything but if songs do not work within our setup we will let you know. Also if large amounts of extra songs are requested we will need to pass on the cost of additional rehearsal to you. This is not a major cost so please enquire about this when you book.

What happens during the band's interval?

We have a laptop packed full of top party tunes to keep the party rocking while the band are offstage. This comes as part of the standard price.

"Hi Ed, Thank you for your email. We have been away for a few days, and I was going to email Zac also, but the band was incredible. They played a set that was perfect for our celebration and we had a great time! Our family and friends also enjoyed themselves and we had so many comments about how good the band were. Thank you for your support and organising the booking. All the best, Steve."

"The Wildcards were fantastic and all our guests really enjoyed the evening. The guys themselves were really friendly and flexible in what we needed even when Zac had started playing our first dance and then had to stop as some of my family were missing :-) I was so impressed that they had taken the time to learn our first dance as this was their usual sort of music but they had taken the time to do it for us. I would not hesitate in booking them again and will certainly be recommending them to people. Best Wishes, Eve."

"These guys were AWESOME! Can't praise The Wildcards highly enough, their set was fantastic and had everyone up and dancing. They sounded fantastic! Everyone who's written and spoken to us about how much they enjoyed the evening has praised the band, both for how great they sounded and for their varied and electric set list. Their professionalism was really appreciated by me too - they had everything under control which meant we could just enjoy ourselves. Booking The Wildcards was the best decision we made; highly, highly recommend them to everyone! Don't hesitate!"

"The Wildcards were simply exceptional. Such nice guys and they play so well it is hard to believe they are a three-piece band. They were playing at our Wedding reception and we had agreed that they would play three sets. Zack warned me that the first set might not get that many people dancing, so that might end up being a shorter one. However, they were so good that the party started pretty much from the end of the first (bride and groom) dance to their very last song. We could not have asked for anything more and they were so good, guests kept coming up to me and asking how I had managed to book such an amazing band. I cannot thank them enough for the care and effort they put in and for making our special day even more special. Thank you so much The Wildcards. Many thanks, Tim."

"The booking couldn't have been easier, Zac, one of the band members contacted me before the event and confirmed the finer details, so I was happy knowing what to expect. They arrived and set up punctually and were all extremely nice guys. The performance was amazing, I am so pleased with everything they did, we all danced all night and they gave the party the exact atmosphere I wanted. I will definitely book them again."

"Zac phoned me a few weeks before the event to ask what I would like them to play and contact remained excellent. He kept me informed of their estimated arrival time and turned up way before my event was due to start. The Wildcards are a great trio of unassuming guys, they were friendly and approachable from the time they arrived till they left some seven or eight hours later. As soon as I heard them playing Sex on Fire for their sound check I knew that the evening was going to go well, I asked them to play what they thought the partygoers would enjoy and they got it spot on. Every text, phone call and FB message I have received contains a comment on how good the band were, can't recommend them highly enough."

I wish them all the best luck for the future and I hope to be able to book them again (just need an excuse!) Cheers!"

"The Wildcards were a brilliant choice for my 40th Birthday party. Zac was great to deal with from the start and the band really got everyone dancing and singing on the night. I've had so many people say just how amazing the band were. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. They made my birthday party an experience to remember - for me and for my friends."

"I just want to say thank you so much for coming out to Verbier, Switzerland to play at our wedding. You were absolutely awesome and played a fantastic selection of songs - the dance floor was packed for the whole evening. All of our guests commented on what a great band and how musically talented you were. It really made the evening. I'd also like to say thank you for learning Rock and Roll. As someone who plays music, I appreciate it might not have been the easiest song to pick up (especially if you have other gigs and requests going on at the same time). I was absolutely delighted when that signature drum beat started, and I'd highly recommend adding it to your permanent set list! You will definitely be our first port of call for any other occasion when we need a live band."

"The band were amazing from start to finish! They arrived early to set up before the guests arrived and sound checked. We asked for 3 x 40min sets to spread it out across the party which worked great. All of our guests thought the band were amazing! They even kindly learnt a couple of extra songs for us! Really great bunch of guys willing to do what they can to provide a GREAT band! Thanks again!"
