Based on our confirmed bookings in the Ipswich area, couples typically pay between £1,500 and £3,800 for a wedding band. The median maximum budget across our Ipswich enquiries this year is £2,500, with some couples budgeting up to £5,500. At the premium end, luxury showbands like Mashup Kings command £5,000 to £11,000. Prices vary depending on band size, performance duration and travel distance.
Based on the enquiries we receive on FixTheMusic, couples planning an Ipswich wedding typically start looking for a band around seven months before the date (median lead time of 219 days). Some book more than a year ahead, particularly for peak months in July and August. We'd recommend securing your band as soon as your venue is confirmed.
Yes, when you book a wedding band, the cost includes the lighting and sound system. However, some wedding venues in Ipswich may have restrictions on space or noise levels. Be sure to inform the band in advance if they need to bring additional equipment, such as sound limiters.
In most cases, yes. If you're planning an outdoor wedding, there are some logistics to consider. For example, the band will need shelter if it rains to protect their equipment. Hiring a gazebo ensures seamless entertainment.
Most function bands play for a two-hour set - but many are willing to let you split their time into different sets. The band might play for half an hour during the ceremony, then perform a 90-minute set during your evening reception.
Any professional band should be willing to play your chosen song for the first dance. Please let the band know your first dance song in advance so they can learn it if necessary. It's also an excellent way to add new meaning to the track.
For example, a rock band can add some power to a slow ballad, while soul bands give any track more depth.
Many bands offer a laptop DJ service that plays your chosen songs while they're taking a break. However, if you want to create the ultimate atmosphere, then hiring a private DJ or multiple bands to perform at different times can be beneficial - but it will cost more.
Most bands have backup musicians who will step in when needed, ensuring nothing interrupts your day. However, if there's an emergency and the band does need to cancel, we'll go out of our way to find suitable entertainment at the last minute.
Some bands prefer to stay local, while others perform across Suffolk. Ultimately, it depends on the band's preferences and whether they're willing to travel. Please be aware that there may be an additional charge to cover the band's travel expenses and accommodation costs, if necessary.
The Marquis Suffolk at Layham is our most enquired-about Ipswich venue, and roaming bands are the most requested format there. Several couples have asked for acoustic roaming sets during drinks and canapés, with one specifically requesting "no amplified music". Others have wanted a ceremony duo followed by canapés and wedding breakfast sets, or pop, soul and R&B with a saxophone and female vocals for the evening. Budgets typically range from £1,500 to £2,500. Wandering Three and ROAMEO are well suited to the roaming format that works so well at this venue.
Yes, several couples at Copdock Hall have requested daytime coverage rather than a full evening band. One couple wanted the band through the reception and into the evening meal, finishing before the DJ. Another specifically asked for wedding breakfast music, and a third wanted a six-piece band with both male and female vocalists and a saxophonist. Budgets at Copdock Hall range from £1,000 to £2,000. Let us know if you want daytime-only coverage and we will match you with bands who offer flexible afternoon packages.
Nedging Hall in Nedging Tye is one of our most popular Ipswich venues for live music. Party Society were confirmed there for £2,600, and couples typically request a mix of pop, soul, R&B and rock with budgets around £1,500 to £2,500. The barn setting suits both acoustic roaming sets during the day and full party bands for the evening. One couple specifically asked for "super fun mash-up sets", which is exactly the kind of brief we can match you with.

What I witnessed on Saturday was truly remarkable...
Hi James and NOMAD team, What I witnessed on Saturday was truly remarkable and this data should be used in the form of some sort of science experiment. We booked you guys over a year ago and our aim was to make the dinner part of our wedding a little more interesting. Thank you so so much for everything, you were professional, helpful and an absolute blast from the moment we booked to the moment you left. Please pass our thanks on to everyone involved, the band members and the people behind the scenes for putting together something that will live with us forever. Thank you! Anthony & Alejandra.
The dust has settled a bit and we wanted to reach out again to thank you for playing at our wedding...
Hi Sam and band, The dust has settled a bit and we wanted to reach out again to thank you for playing at our wedding. We can't thank you enough for being so accommodating with the music, and being there all day to entertain the guests. From everyone we've spoken to, they have all said how good the music was throughout the day! If there are any final things you need from us please do let us know, otherwise we hope to see you guys again at another event! Good luck and thank you again! Kris and Lorna.
Wow, where do I start? Luna Showband and Night Magic took our breath away...
Wow, where do I start? Luna Showband and Night Magic took our breath away. The most compliments I ever had on the wedding were the band and the singers. People just stared, as they couldn’t believe it. My mother-in-law who is from Canada said, we just don’t get talent like this in Canada! She was so happy. It was just phenomenal. The kids from Arizona who are spoilt and have seen every kind of wedding said it was the best music they have ever seen. It was truly out of this world!! I can’t believe you mastered the bee gees voice and did Night Fever, it was amazing!! When you called us to the stage to stand up there with you, we felt like legends and part of the band!! I will never forget it!! So epic!! Every time I remember those times on the dance floor, we beam with happiness!
"Massive thank you to Gemma, Sunny, Caroline and Lucia. They are extremely talented musicians and made our event unforgettable. We would love to have Cheeky Brass back for future events and can't recommend them enough."
Jordan Brown, event at Wattisham Airfield, Ipswich, Cheeky Brass booked for £1,500.
