What genres of music does a wedding singer perform?
Most wedding singers perform a wide variety of songs that cover pop, soul, rock, indie, jazz and swing. Some wedding singers specialise in one genre especially, e.g. they might be a jazz wedding singer or only do more modern pop covers. Wedding singers have come along way since the days of cheesy songs and tacky backing tracks. Standards are much higher these days with wedding singers in demand to perform modern covers of chart music as well as the timeless classics from the Ratpack crooning era and the golden ages of soul and funk. So you can expect wedding singers to perform a full range of songs from Frank Sinatra to The Lumineers and everything in between.
How much does it cost to hire a wedding singer?
The average price to hire a wedding singer on FixTheMusic is £1,000 or €1,153. The exact prices you receive when you request a quote will vary a lot. Some younger wedding singers will charge less (e.g. starting at around £600), whereas more experienced wedding singers who are in very high demand can charge between £1,500 - £2,500 or more for each wedding. The easiest way to find the best prices for your wedding singer is to find a local wedding singer near you, as you would then avoid having to pay too much in travel fees and other expenses.
How long will the wedding singer perform for?
Most wedding singers will perform 2 or 3 sets of approximately 45 minutes at the wedding. As the voice is such a physical instrument, most singers will limit their performance time to this as a maximum.
Do wedding singers perform with backing tracks or live instruments?
Some wedding singers perform with backing tracks as opposed to live instrumental accompaniment. This is a popular option as it keeps costs down and allows the singer to be more mobile during the performance. However, many wedding singers also accompany themselves with an acoustic guitar or piano / keyboard. Or they can sing as part of a duo, where the wedding singer is accompanied by a guitarist, pianist or other instrumentalist. This would usually cost more, as there is another musician who needs to be paid. If you're looking for a wedding acoustic singer, then you probably want to hire a weddign singer who also plays the acoustic guitar.
Will my wedding singer stay in one place or will they move around while performing?
Wedding singers often use wireless microphones, meaning that they can roam around your guests and interact with them. This can add a unique dimension to weddings and corporate events.
Will the wedding singer learn one or two songs for my wedding?
Most singers have a repertoire list that they are comfortable with but they will always be able to learn one or two extra songs if they aren't on the setlist. Some wedding singers might charge a small fee to arrange and learn the song but many will not charge for this service.
Will the wedding singer bring their own equipment?
Yes, most wedding singers will bring their own equipment. This usually consists of a small PA system for amplification, but if you have a lot of guests at your wedding or if the singer will be performing in an especially large space, you should ask that the wedding singer brings a larger PA system. They will also bring their own microphone. Many wedding singers use an iPad or similar device for the lyrics, or they will perform without any prompts.

Which parts of the ceremony does a wedding ceremony singer perform at?
At wedding ceremonies, our wedding singers usually sing while guests are getting settled at the venue and waiting for the couple to arrive. They will then sing while the bride is walking down the aisle. The wedding ceremony singer can also sing during the signing of the register, which is a lovely moment for the guests to enjoy the live music, as it's often tricky for them to see what's happening at the front of the venue. The singer will then sing while the happily married couple exits the venue down the aisle, usually something romantic and uplifting.
