Where couples are getting married on the Isle of Wight

Country estates dominate our Isle of Wight enquiry data. Gatcombe Estate near Newport has generated multiple enquiries, with couples specifically requesting roaming bands for drinks receptions. Nunwell House near Brading drew a booking for Roaming All Stars, who performed roaming sets during dinner for 150 guests in a marquee, a format that works beautifully for the tipi and marquee weddings popular on the island. Barton Manor on the East Cowes estate was the venue for a Scintillate booking (333 bookings, 75 reviews), and Haseley Manor in Arreton and New Barn Farm near Calbourne have also drawn enquiries from couples planning outdoor celebrations.

Coastal hotel weddings feature strongly around Cowes and Seaview. Priory Bay Hotel near Seaview has generated multiple enquiries and was the venue for The Manhattans (385 bookings, 129 reviews) in July 2026. Their client Beth left a five-star review:

"LOVED The Manhattans for our wedding — fantastic band, really got the party started on the dance floor! Loved the choice of songs and they also learnt our first dance family dance."

New Holmwood Hotel in Cowes and the Royal Yacht Squadron on Cowes Parade have also drawn enquiries.

On the island's western side, East Afton Farmhouse near Yarmouth and Freshwater has been the venue for multiple enquiries, with one couple describing their event as a "wedding in tipi marquee on the Isle of Wight." The Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Havenstreet has also hosted weddings.

The Starlights performed at a wedding in East Cowes, and Band Of Brassers (67 bookings, 15 reviews), an 8-piece brass ensemble, were booked for a wedding on the island, both reflecting the diverse range of ensembles couples choose for Isle of Wight weddings.

Our wedding bands have public liability insurance and PAT tested equipment.

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Wedding Band on the Isle of Wight?

Based on our confirmed bookings on the Isle of Wight, prices for a standard wedding band start at £1,600.

The most affordable confirmed booking was The Starlights, booked for a wedding in East Cowes at £1,600. The Manhattans were booked at Priory Bay for £5,290, and Roaming All Stars at £3,600 for roaming dinner sets at Nunwell House.

Larger ensembles, such as showbands and 8-piece brass groups like Scintillate and Band Of Brassers, both with confirmed bookings on the island, can cost considerably more depending on lineup size and bespoke requirements. For most couples, a 3- to 5-piece covers band will cost around £1,600.

Ferry and accommodation costs

Many of the best wedding bands travel from the mainland. Some bands include ferry costs and overnight accommodation in their quote, while others list these separately. One couple who enquired through FixTheMusic told bands: "I can pay for your ferry fees (as have discounted rate)", so it's worth discussing ferry arrangements directly with your shortlisted bands.

How Far Do Isle of Wight Wedding Bands Travel?

All wedding bands listed on this page travel to the Isle of Wight from the mainland by ferry. The three main ferry routes are:

  • Southampton to East Cowes (Red Funnel, ~55 minutes vehicle ferry)
  • Lymington to Yarmouth (Wightlink, ~40 minutes vehicle ferry)
  • Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Ryde (Wightlink, ~25-45 minutes)

The Hot Rods are based in Southampton, the closest mainland port, giving them the shortest crossing to the island. Kid Chameleon are based in Bournemouth and Southampton, and Metrobeats are based in Hampshire, all well-positioned for Isle of Wight weddings.

Bands travelling from further afield will need a longer journey, and most include or separately quote overnight accommodation for late-finishing weddings. Bands travelling by car will need parking as close as possible to your wedding venue.

See the map below to get an idea of how far wedding bands on the Isle of Wight will travel.

If you're looking for the best wedding bands the Isle of Wight has to offer, submit an enquiry on FixTheMusic. You might also be interested in our guide to the best wedding bands in Hampshire, many of whom regularly travel to the island from the Southampton ferry terminal.

Isle of Wight Is a Popular County for Weddings in the UK

The Isle of Wight — located in the English Channel, about 4 miles off the coast of Hampshire — is a popular wedding destination, known for its country house venues, coastal settings and festival heritage.

August draws the most wedding enquiries on the island, followed closely by May, June, July and September. Because bands travelling to the Isle of Wight need to coordinate ferry crossings and often overnight accommodation, popular bands are typically committed well before spring. If you're planning an August wedding, enquiring by the previous autumn gives bands the most time to plan their travel.

FAQ About Isle of Wight Wedding Bands

Do bands charge extra for the ferry to the Isle of Wight?

Some bands include ferry costs in their quote; others list it separately. Day Radio quoted £1,650 for an Isle of Wight wedding "including all travel, accommodation, P.A. supply with lighting," while The Ice Men stated that "ferry costs and accommodation" would be added separately to their £2,196 quote. One couple who enquired on FixTheMusic told bands: "I can pay for your ferry fees (as have discounted rate)", so it's worth discussing ferry arrangements directly with your shortlisted bands. See the ferry routes listed above in our travel section.

Do we need to provide overnight accommodation for the band?

For late-finishing weddings, most bands will need overnight accommodation on the island. Some bands include this in their quote; others ask the couple to provide it. The Upshots, who have performed at several Isle of Wight weddings, note that "ferry and overnight accommodation (if required) are separate — we will help arrange this and it will be straightforward." If your venue has on-site accommodation, it's worth asking whether they can reserve rooms for the band.

Can we book ceremony and drinks reception music as well as an evening band?

Several Isle of Wight couples have enquired about split-format entertainment, typically an acoustic duo or roaming band for the ceremony and drinks reception, followed by a full covers band for the evening. One couple at Barton Manor asked for "an acoustic duo to perform at our wedding ceremony and drinks reception," while another at East Afton Farmhouse specifically wanted "a wandering band for our drinks reception." This format works well at country estate venues where the ceremony and reception are in different areas of the grounds. Mention your full schedule when enquiring so bands can quote for the complete package.

Is a ceilidh band an option for an Isle of Wight wedding?

Yes, ceilidh bands have been requested by multiple couples on the Isle of Wight. One couple enquired looking for "a short ceilidh followed by some band and then playlist/DJ," and another requested "ceilidh and evening music" for their wedding. Paragon Ceilidh Band quoted £944 for an Isle of Wight ceilidh. See our ceilidh bands for hire on the Isle of Wight page for more options.

Can we book a roaming band for our drinks reception?

Yes, roaming bands are a popular choice for Isle of Wight weddings, particularly at country estate venues. Multiple couples have enquired specifically requesting roaming bands for drinks receptions at venues like Gatcombe Estate and Nunwell House. One couple at a Yarmouth wedding asked for "something that requires no wires, so something like a roaming brass band would be perfect" for their lunchtime reception. Roaming All Stars were booked to perform roaming sets during dinner for 150 guests in a marquee at Nunwell House. See our roaming bands for hire in the UK page for more options.

What types of bands work well for tipi and marquee weddings?

Tipi and marquee weddings are popular on the Isle of Wight, and several couples have enquired about bands for outdoor setups. Smaller ensembles (acoustic duos, roaming bands, and 3- to 4-piece covers bands) tend to work well in these settings, as they require less stage space and can adapt to outdoor power and PA logistics. One couple who enquired through FixTheMusic described their event as a "wedding in tipi marquee on the Isle of Wight."

If your venue requires a generator for power, mention this to bands when requesting quotes, as it may affect their setup requirements.
