Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat doesn't have Cannes' famous boulevard or Monaco's casinos. What it has is something rarer: genuine privacy.
The peninsula sits between Nice and Monaco, lined with some of the most expensive private estates in Europe and a handful of world-class hotels, but almost no tourist infrastructure. Weddings here are typically small, highly personal affairs.
That setting shapes the music too. Most couples marrying in Cap Ferrat lean towards something elegant and intimate, perhaps a jazz trio or acoustic duo during the drinks reception, building to a more energetic band once the evening begins. The venue often dictates the size of the act.
On FixTheMusic, bands always provide quotes directly to you with a clear breakdown of costs so you can make an informed decision – no other costs are added, and once you’re happy to book, you can pay securely online via card.
Wedding bands on FixTheMusic have public liability insurance and PAT tested equipment.
FixTheMusic is free for event planners to use – the price you agree with musicians is the price you pay. There are no costs added on top and 0% booking fees.
FixTheMusic has several wedding bands based in France, including Mixology Sax & DJ, The Travellers, The Navigators, The Sabres, The Artists, The Mad Socks, The Paris Jazz Band, Panthéon Gypsy Jazz Band and The Whiskey Boys.
For classical music, there is also the outstanding The Carcassonne String Quartet and classical guitarist Peter David.
The most prestigious wedding venues in Cap Ferrat include the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and various private estates on the peninsula. Most are intimate, high-end settings that suit smaller ensembles and acoustic or semi-acoustic setups rather than large full bands.
Given the intimate scale of most Cap Ferrat venues and the generally sophisticated atmosphere, duos, trios and acoustic acts tend to work best during the ceremony and drinks reception. A four or five-piece band is usually the maximum that suits the evening party at most private villas and hotel venues in the area.
Local French Riviera bands on FixTheMusic typically start from around €1,500 to €2,500 for an evening performance. UK bands can travel but flights, accommodation and equipment hire add significantly to the cost. Most couples find a local act is the most practical and cost-effective choice for a Cap Ferrat wedding.
As early as possible. The French Riviera is one of the busiest wedding destinations in Europe, with peak season running from May to September. The most popular bands on FixTheMusic book up 12 to 18 months in advance for summer Saturdays. Cap Ferrat's proximity to Cannes also means the whole region gets busy around the Film Festival in May.
Both are popular options. Local bands based on the French Riviera are well versed in the logistics of the region and tend to be more cost-effective. UK bands can travel but flights, accommodation and equipment hire add significantly to the cost. FixTheMusic has both local French Riviera acts and UK bands with experience at destination weddings in the area.
When it comes to the band providing you with their price, there are usually two ways they do this: some prefer to provide a quote for just their performance fee and then require the client to cover all of their expenses. Other bands are willing to provide the client with an all-inclusive quote, which includes their accommodation and travel expenses. Usually the cost of hiring a PA system and any other equipment is not included as it can be quite time-consuming to obtain quotes from local suppliers for this and the prices can vary widely between suppliers. FixTheMusic has a network of trusted equipment suppliers in many locations across Europe so please let us know if we can help with this.
As mentioned above, some bands prefer not to provide all-inclusive quotes; instead, they quote for just their performance fee and request the client to pay for all of their additional expenses. These usually include flights from their nearest airport (with some baggage allowance for instruments), transfers in the destination country (e.g. taxis), accommodation, food and drinks, and PA system / equipment hire.
Probably the most frequent issue couples encounter when trying to hire a destination wedding band is finding reasonably priced suppliers to hire a PA / sound system and equipment from. In the past couple of years, we’ve seen prices for hiring a basic PA system range from €250 to €2,000. Often your wedding planner can help put you in touch with trusted local suppliers, or feel free to get in touch with us – we’re always happy to help hunt for the best equipment hire companies. Another dilemma couples often face is whether to arrange for the band to arrive the day before the wedding or on the day of the wedding itself. Many bands will charge an extra fee to arrive the day before – as it means they can’t accept any other work or gigs the night before. But it can be risky having the band arrive on the morning of the wedding as it doesn’t leave much time for flight delays or other disruptions to the band’s journey.
If you’ve booked a UK band for your destination wedding, many will offer to perform for other parts of your wedding day at a heavily reduced rate, e.g. during the ceremony or some background musical entertainment at your drinks reception. Although most UK weddings tend to finish by midnight, weddings on the continent usually go on until the small hours. Bands experienced at performing for destination weddings will know this already and be ready to extend their usual timings until 1am or 2am (though some may charge extra for this or timings later this).
June, July and September are the most popular months. The weather is reliably warm and the peninsula is beautiful. August can be extremely busy with summer visitors which adds logistical complexity. Spring weddings in April and May are also increasingly popular as temperatures are pleasant and venues are less pressured.
The bands below are all available for weddings and events in Cap Ferrat and across the French Riviera. Many are based locally, others travel from across France or from the UK for destination weddings in the area.
