The Scottish Soul Collective, a showband with 143 confirmed bookings and 39 verified reviews on FixTheMusic, have played two confirmed Dundee weddings, including a marquee celebration for 130 guests at a family home in Invergowrie.

Dundee wedding enquiries on FixTheMusic span party bands, covers acts, showbands and bands that combine ceilidh sets with pop and rock. May and August draw the most bookings, and the median lead time is around 8 months, so popular bands get booked well in advance.

What Kind of Wedding Band Works in Dundee

Dundee weddings range from marquee celebrations in the Angus countryside to hotel receptions in the city centre, and the right band depends on the venue, the guest list and the atmosphere you want to create.

A couple celebrating their wedding at a family home in Invergowrie wanted "a brilliant band" for 130 guests, specifying male and female singers and an 11-piece line-up. The Scottish Soul Collective, who travel regularly to Dundee weddings, were booked for the wedding at £3,975, providing continuous music from after the meal through to midnight. They offer flexible line-ups for Dundee weddings, from a 7-piece at £3,100 up to the full 11-piece with horn section at £4,625, all including VAT and travel.

Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort is one of Dundee's most popular wedding venues on FixTheMusic. One couple told us the venue has a sound limiter set at 90 decibels for 10 seconds, and the power will cut off if exceeded. The venue says this does not usually cause issues and the band can see the limiter light system from the dancefloor, but bands should be informed in advance so they can bring sound-limiting equipment.

Another Forbes of Kingennie couple asked for "a bit of a mix of music with an interval of Ibiza tunes on sax," and Sound Castle quoted £880 for a covers booking at the same venue.

The Best Western Invercarse Hotel on Perth Road has a sprung dance floor and a small stage, noted by a couple who booked their wedding there after 17 years together, wanting a ceilidh celebration for a guest list mixing experienced dancers and complete novices, though they later simplified their plans, dropping ceremony music to save the energy for the evening.

At Piperdam Leisure Resort, our most-enquired Dundee venue with 31 wedding enquiries, Hup quoted £2,115 inclusive for a wedding, covering PA, lighting, travel and accommodation. Their typical set runs 8pm to 9.30pm and 10pm to midnight, with a ceilidh set woven through if the couple wants it.

The Motherships have quoted similarly for other Dundee weddings, at £1,585 and £1,830 for comparable 8pm-to-midnight packages including a learned first dance. Not every Dundee venue has reliable equipment: one couple at The Maker on Perth Road noted the venue's PA "isn't great," so the band brought their own. Bands will ask about this before quoting.

Of the Dundee couples who stated a budget on FixTheMusic, the median maximum is £1,050, with most budgeting between £1,000 and £2,000.

Six recent wedding enquiries mention DJ sets and four specifically ask for saxophone as part of the line-up. Saltire Sax & DJ and Fusion Girls have both responded to DJ and sax enquiries from Dundee couples.

I just wanted to pop a note over to say how amazing the band and DJ were
Hi James, I just wanted to pop a note over to say how amazing the band and DJ were. Everyone absolutely loved them and the band really made the night! So much fun. Please pass on my thanks and feedback to the band... we’d have them back in a heartbeat! Thank you for all your help in the arrangements - it went seamlessly. Literally in the office all day, all I’ve heard is how amazing the band were - the guys smashed it! Hannah.

They made our wedding and we could not have asked for more...
Cloud Nine performed an acoustic set during cocktails and a party set after dinner for our wedding at Pateo Alfacinha - they were just perfect! They were fun, they sounded beautiful, they were engaging with the crowd - the band is the single biggest element of our wedding that we have received compliments from people about. If you are in two minds about whether to book them - just do it. They made our wedding and we could not have asked for more. Thank you so much Cloud Nine!

We have had so many compliments on how good the band was...
We booked Mashup Kings for our wedding at Kingscote Barn and we are so glad we did! We spent ages looking through different bands online to find something more in line with our music tastes and we're so glad we found these guys. We have had so many compliments on how good the band was and we both absolutely loved it too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone thinking about booking them for their wedding - it will really make the evening. Thanks Benji & team 🙌

FAQs About Dundee Wedding Bands

Our venue has a sound limiter. Will that be a problem?

It depends on the band. Rhythm Royale told one Dundee client: "We are unable to play in venues with sound limiters, just so you are aware to check with the venue to make sure they don't have any in place." Forbes of Kingennie has a sound limiter set at 90 decibels for 10 seconds, and the power cuts off if exceeded. The venue says it does not usually cause issues, but some bands cannot work with limiters at all. Always check with your venue before enquiring, and mention it in your FixTheMusic enquiry so we only send it to bands that can accommodate it.

We are on a tight budget. What can we get for £1,500 in Dundee?

One Dundee couple had £1,500 set aside for their band and found that quotes came in higher than the profile price suggested. Sound Castle quoted £880 for a covers booking at Forbes of Kingennie, and The Motherships quoted £1,585 for continuous music from 8pm to midnight. If budget is a concern, state your maximum in the enquiry so bands can tailor their quote, and consider a smaller line-up.

Do we need to tell the band about venue equipment?

Yes. One Dundee client at The Maker on Perth Road noted the venue's PA "isn't great," so the band brought their own. Another client called Forbes of Kingennie to confirm there was enough room for a 4-piece band before booking. Bands will ask about PA systems, lighting and load-in access before quoting, but if your venue has unusual logistics, mention it in your enquiry.

Can we have live music for our ceremony as well as the evening?

Yes, but several Dundee couples who initially planned daytime music changed their minds closer to the date. One couple at the Invercarse Hotel asked about afternoon ceremony music, then later decided to "save the ceilidh energy for the evening." If you want ceremony music, mention it in your enquiry. Bands can provide a smaller acoustic setup for earlier in the day, and some offer a piper as an add-on.

Can the band learn a specific first dance?

All bands on FixTheMusic will learn your first dance if you give them enough notice. Dundee couples have requested everything from Skerryvore's "Take My Hand" to the Jon Boden version of "How Long Will I Love You." The Motherships include a learned first dance as standard. Give the band at least a few weeks before the wedding.
