Reviews from local events in Kent

We booked the Tourists for our wedding yesterday and we were all blown away by how great they were. All our guests kept saying how amazing the band were and the photographers also said 'your band are incredible' before they left. I'm massively into live music so was a bit nervous about blind booking a band without seeing them live but I went with the videos and the reviews and so so glad we did. Honestly, if you're in two minds whether to book them, just do it, you won't regret it. Si is also so responsive and really listens to what you're after to make it special and unique. Great bunch of lads. Couldn't be more grateful. Thanks, James and Sarah

The best band! I couldn’t recommend booking Scintillate enough. From booking the band, to the lead up to the wedding, to their performance on the day everything was just perfect! Our guests loved them just as much as we did. Thank you so much for helping us make our day so special!

We were looking for a band specifically that had a saxophonist and we're so glad we found The Nauticals! Their sound, lighting and image were all very professional and polished - we had so many compliments from guests saying they were the best wedding band they'd seen. We had high hopes for them having seen their promo videos and they didn't disappoint! They kept everyone on the dance floor right until carriages and the added sax set was a great way to break up the night and give our guests another little surprise. We couldn't recommend them enough.

The Beat Chiefs were amazing! Everyone had a fabulous time, and they aced our first and last dances - the latter learnt specially for the event. They were also exceptionally professional and friendly from first contact to last. We couldn't have been happier to have hired them for our wedding!

They absolutely smashed it. We were so looking forward to the band playing at our wedding, it was one of the things we were most excited for. They didn’t disappoint, tune after tune the guys got everyone on the dance floor all night. We wanted a great band that had our dance floor filled and we certainly got it. It was a highlight and we would book them over and over again! Thank guys for making our wedding evening a massive party!

Hi Sam, I just wanted to email to let you know how fantastic you & the band were from start to finish. You really took the time to understand the vibe we wanted to go for. On the multiple calls we had, you really showed an interest in making sure the music on the wedding day was going to be perfect. The fact that you learned a few songs that weren’t already in your repertoire really showed us that you cared about making our day extra special. You were massively accommodating especially due to the unforeseen delays moving the setlist times around for us. Weddings are stressful enough when timings don't go to plan and your relaxed response to things made both Lucy & me feel at ease. The music on the actual night was quality! Most guests commented on the fact that the band were incredible including one of my mates who messaged the next day saying 'That band was insane 👏👏' . We can't thank you enough for the effort you guys put in and the attention to detail to ensure everything went well. We could not recommend you highly enough, absolutely smashed it! Cheers, Harry.

Best wedding band ever! The band was excellent from start to finish. The dance floor was full all night, our day just wouldn't have been the same without them. We have received so many rave reviews from our guests. They loved the different instruments, audience engagement and repertoire. Thank you so much! You completed our perfect day xx

PYT were a fantastic addition to our wedding and we would strongly recommend! We particularly enjoyed the strong lead vocals, the party energy and some great extra DJ'ing in between sets!

Andy and I just can't thank the band enough. We had seen people say in review after review that they were the talk of the wedding, but my goodness - they really are. The amount of messages we have received to say how talented each of them are is just unbelievable, but totally deserved. They kept the dancefloor full all night and were super interactive and very thoughtful about some of the things that we had put on our pre-event checklist. The whole band are so lovely however Andy and I spent a small amount of time with Adam and Robyn and they are just delightful people, let alone super talented musicians. These guys would be our only choice for events moving forward. Thankyou for making our day so fun and memorable! x Thank you, Paris & Andrew.

The band were a complete highlight of the day! They were so good in every way. So friendly and nice and epic tunes. Everyone commented how they were the best wedding band they had seen at a wedding and I agree. So glad we went with them. Thank you!

Could not recommend the Mashup Kings enough! From beginning to end, Benji was a delight to deal with. He was extremely relaxed, which put both Hannah and me at ease when we had so many other things to organise! We booked the band for the whole day and evening, which was a great choice. They set the tone for the entire wedding and every single one of our guests absolutely loved them! If we were to have any kind of party in the future then we wouldn’t hesitate to book the band again.

Not sure where to start but MOJO were absolutely FANTASTIC! The vibe and party atmosphere we wanted to create for our wedding couldn’t have been achieved without them! From our entrance into the wedding breakfast, the performances during the wedding breakfast and the fact that our guests haven’t stopped talking about the band and literally couldn’t wait for them to come back on the night of the wedding is the biggest compliment I can give. Mark was brilliant with his communication throughout and just got Katie and me from the get go. Thank you so much for a brilliant day and evening of performances! Even our other wedding vendors have asked for MOJO's details since the wedding which is a clear compliment of how good they are! Thank you, thank you, thank you all!

Kent Wedding Venues

Kent's wedding venues fall into a few distinct categories. Here's where our bands are most often asked to perform, based on FixTheMusic enquiries:

Barn and eco-wedding venues

  • The Oak Barn, Frame Farm (18 enquiries) — An eco-wedding venue near Benenden, Kent's most-booked venue on FixTheMusic by some distance, with 7 confirmed bookings including ceilidh, roaming bands and party bands. The venue contacts bands directly to coordinate logistics. A typical evening format here runs: first dance and ceilidh at 6:45pm, two ceilidh sets with short breaks, a covers set at 8:45pm, then DJ disco until 11pm. Bands typically arrive at 5:15pm for a 6:45pm start.
  • The Old Kent Barn (9 enquiries) — A barn wedding venue near Dover. ROAMEO confirmed at £4,225, The Tourists at £2,116. One couple booked a Christmas wedding here wanting "pop, jazz and Christmassy tunes."
  • Solton Manor (8 enquiries) — A wedding and events venue near Dover. Beats & Beyond confirmed at £5,000. Their schedule ran: band arrival at 5:15pm, first dance at 8pm, two live sets with a 45-minute manned DJ break between them, then DJ until close. The band also performed an acoustic duo set earlier and needed to confirm power access and a wet weather plan for the outdoor element.

Castle and stately home venues

  • Leeds CastleWandering Three confirmed at £6,495 for ceremony music, wandering entertainment during photos, and a full evening band set. The couple also booked a DJ from 11pm to 1am to finish the night.
  • Hoath House (7 enquiries) — A historic venue in Chiddingstone Hoath, Edenbridge. Soul Flight confirmed at £4,005. Soul Central quoted £4,250 to £5,550 for 6 to 8-piece lineups.
  • Broxham Manor — A manor venue in Edenbridge. Scintillate confirmed at £8,850 for a full-day format: the band arrived at 12:30pm, provided mics and background music for the 3pm ceremony and canapes (3:30 to 5:15pm), then soundchecked in the marquee before guests sat down for dinner at 5:15pm.
  • Goodnestone ParkBrass Bonanza performed at a wedding here.

Hotel and town venues

  • Chilston Park Hotel — A country house hotel near Maidstone. The Upshots know the venue well, having performed at several weddings here. Bands quoted lineups from 5-piece (£1,825) up to 12-piece with sax, trumpet and violin add-ons.
  • Chapel House Estate (13 enquiries) — A wedding and events venue near Ramsgate. ROAMEO confirmed a booking here.
  • The Orangery, Maidstone (2 enquiries)
  • Hayne House (2 enquiries) — A venue in Hythe. The Dream Team confirmed at £2,150.

Waterside venues

  • The Ferry House (2 enquiries) — A waterside venue on the Isle of Sheppey. Supersoul confirmed at £6,000 for a New Year's Eve wedding.

Each venue has its own layout and requirements, so check details like access, power, sound limits and finish times before confirming your band.

Planning a Kent Wedding

Kent couples tell us they want something a bit different.

One couple planned "an outdoor tipi style" wedding and loved "all types of music from pop, rock, disco, R&B and even heavy metal." Another at The Harty Estate wanted "a saxophonist alongside our DJ for parts of the evening music" rather than a full live band.

Brass bands and roaming acts suit Kent's barn venue culture. A couple at Chiddingstone requested "a brass band with some vocals as well, and ideally a DJ set add-on for the evening." Brass Bonanza performed at Goodnestone Park, The Roaming Folks at The Oak Barn, and The London Roaming Band at Offham.

Full-day bookings are common at Kent's manor and castle venues. At Broxham Manor, Scintillate provided mics and background music for the ceremony and canapes before the full band set in the marquee.

At Leeds Castle, a couple booked Wandering Three for ceremony, wandering entertainment during photos, and the evening party, then a DJ until 1am. Bands arriving early to set up for ceremony music should coordinate access with the venue, as the rest of the band may need to soundcheck during canapes before guests sit down for dinner.

For couples planning outdoor or tipi weddings, bands need power access and a wet weather plan. Beats & Beyond confirmed this when playing at Solton Manor: "Just confirming that power will be available for the acoustic duo? If you have a wet weather plan as well that would be useful."

Bands ask venues about dietary requirements for band meals. One band checked whether the venue could cater for a celiac drummer with no cross-contamination, noting that "some venues are able to and some are not able to guarantee" this. Discussing band meals with your venue in advance avoids last-minute issues.

Christmas weddings happen at Kent barn venues too. A couple at The Old Kent Barn in December wanted "pop, jazz and Christmassy tunes."

Soul, Motown, reggae and disco are popular genre requests. A couple at Hayne House in Hythe said they liked "soul, Motown, reggae, disco and funk."

FAQs About Wedding Bands in Kent

How much does a wedding band cost in Kent?

Based on the 31 most recent of Kent's confirmed bookings in the past 12 months, wedding bands range from £400 to £8,850, with a median of £2,150. The full breakdown by price tier is shown above.

When should we book our Kent wedding band?

The median lead time for Kent weddings is around 11 months. August, July and September are the most popular months. Enquire as soon as you book your venue, especially for peak summer dates at popular barn venues like The Oak Barn, which can be booked over a year ahead.

What format do Kent weddings typically follow?

It depends on the venue type. At barn venues like The Oak Barn, a typical evening runs: first dance and ceilidh at 6:45pm, two ceilidh sets with short breaks, a covers set at 8:45pm, then DJ disco until 11pm. At manor venues like Solton Manor, bands typically arrive at 5:15pm, first dance at 8pm, two live sets with a 45-minute manned DJ break, then DJ until close. At castle venues like Leeds Castle, couples have booked live bands for the evening, then a DJ from 11pm to 1am to finish the night. Full-day bookings (ceremony + canapes + evening) are common at manor and castle venues. Bands arrive early to set up for the ceremony, with the rest of the band arriving during canapes to soundcheck before dinner.

Are barn venues suitable for all band sizes?

Most barn venues in Kent accommodate a full band, but space varies. The Oak Barn and Solton Manor have hosted everything from roaming duos to 9-piece function bands. For smaller barn venues, a 4-piece or acoustic lineup may be more practical. Always check access and power availability with the venue, particularly if the band is performing an acoustic set outdoors.

Can bands perform at outdoor or tipi weddings in Kent?

Yes. Several Kent couples have planned outdoor or tipi-style weddings. Bands need access to power and shelter in case of bad weather. At Solton Manor, a band confirmed they needed to check power availability for an acoustic duo performing outdoors and asked the couple for a wet weather plan. Discuss your wet weather plan with both the venue and the band before booking.

Can we book a brass band or roaming act in Kent?

Yes. Brass bands and roaming acts are popular for Kent's barn and outdoor venues. Brass Bonanza, The Roaming Folks and The London Roaming Band have all performed at confirmed Kent weddings. The London Brass Roamers are also available.

Can we book a ceilidh band in Kent?

Yes. Ceilidh Twist has three confirmed Kent bookings at The Oak Barn, and The Kent Ceilidh Band is based in Bromley. Browse our ceilidh bands in Kent page for more options.

Do Kent venues have noise limiters or sound restrictions?

Some do. Always check with your venue. If a venue has a sound limiter, bands will adjust their volume and may use an electric drum kit. Let the band know about any restrictions when you receive their quote.

Can bands perform at Christmas weddings in Kent?

Yes. One couple booked The Old Kent Barn for a December wedding wanting "pop, jazz and Christmassy tunes." Several Kent barn venues host Christmas weddings, and bands can incorporate festive songs into their set.

Do we need to provide meals for the band?

Yes, it's standard practice to provide each band member with a hot meal and refreshments. Discuss dietary requirements with the band in advance and confirm with your venue whether they can cater for specific needs. One Kent band checked whether the venue could accommodate a celiac drummer with no cross-contamination, noting that some venues can guarantee this and others cannot.
