FAQs About Bands for Hire in London

How far in advance should I book a band in London?

Bands in London play at multiple venues, so it's important to book your chosen band in advance to avoid disappointment. Some of the most popular bands are often booked months in advance, so it's always a good idea to reserve the band as soon as you have the venue.

However, if you need last-minute party entertainment, please contact us and we'll do everything we can to find suitable musicians.

How much does it typically cost to hire a band in London?

It depends on the band's size and popularity. For example, a newly established London wedding band might charge £1,000 for a two-hour set, while popular bands may charge over £10,000.

London is an incredibly diverse city, so you'll have no problem finding the right live entertainment for your budget. If a band is based in the South East or performs at UK-wide events, then they may charge extra to travel to London.

Do bands provide their own sound system and lighting?

Yes, all bands will provide their own equipment, including a sound system, and they can bring lighting - although many venues have lighting systems in place for live bands. London has a range of historic venues that may have space limitations.

Letting the musicians know about any requirements in advance ensures they bring the right equipment. It's also essential to see whether the venue has noise restrictions in place, as the band will need to bring sound limiters.

Can the band learn our first dance or a custom song request?

When you're looking for wedding reception entertainment, you'll want to find a band that will make your special day memorable.

The best bands will ask about your favourite songs and ensure they learn your chosen track for the first dance. Please let them know in advance, as the musicians may need to learn the music.

How long do bands usually perform at events?

When you book a band in London, they'll usually play for 2 hours, but many will let you split that time. For example, if you're planning a wedding, the band might play for half an hour during the drinks reception, then for 90 minutes during the evening party.

Again, it depends on the band you choose, but the majority are flexible and will go out of their way to make your event unforgettable.

Can bands travel outside London for events?

Some bands for hire will travel outside of London, but you should always check before booking. For example, if a band is based in London, they may be willing to travel to venues in the South East, but charge an extra fee.

If you're planning an event outside London, we have plenty of bands available UK-wide. These include party bands with infectious energy, funk bands, hip-hop acts, and professional classical musicians.

What size band is best for my venue and guest count?

Small events with 50 to 100 guests should be fine with a four-piece band, while large venues with hundreds of guests may be best with a large ensemble. However, it's more important to consider whether your guests can hear the band and whether the venue can accommodate larger acts.

A small band with a powerful PA system will still be able to provide superior sound quality than a larger band without one.

What is included in the band’s booking fee?

In most cases, the band's time, equipment, and travel costs are included in the fee. But if the band has a long travel distance and needs to stay overnight, they may charge extra. We recommend giving the band access to free soft drinks if possible, but this is at your discretion.

How early will the band arrive for setup and soundcheck?

When you hire bands through our website, they want to ensure an unforgettable night and go out of their way to make everything perfect. Most will arrive two hours before the event to set up their equipment and perform soundchecks.

What happens if a band member is ill or unavailable on the day?

Professional bands often have measures in place should a band member be unavailable or unwell on the day, so it's rare for them to need to cancel. However, we have an extensive network of London party bands and will try to find you suitable entertainment at short notice.

Reviews from local events in London

The absolute best band you could hope for on your wedding day- from the planning process through to the performance on the day, we were so pleased. All of our guests were in awe and it made our day so special to have such a great band! We had everyone on the dance floor celebrating with us thanks to their high quality performance and great set list.

Thank you for your outstanding performance at The Goring Hotel for the wedding of S & J 2026. As a luxury wedding planner, I have the pleasure of working with some exceptional suppliers, and The Wandering Three are right at the top of that list. On the day, they performed as a five-piece band, and the energy, musicianship and vocals were simply fantastic! Beyond the music, they were impeccably organised, warm, flexible and a genuine pleasure to work with. Their repertoire is incredibly varied, they keep the music flowing seamlessly throughout the day, happily accommodate guest requests wherever possible, and even took care of the announcements for us, which was hugely appreciated. Most importantly, they created an atmosphere that had everyone smiling, dancing and talking about the celebration long after it had finished. A truly first-class team, and one I would recommend without hesitation for any high-end wedding or event.

Best wedding band ever. From the get go dealing with Thom was so easy and he went out of his way to make sure he and the band delivered an awesome performance including learning a first dance song for us. We've had so many comments about how they were the best wedding band ever and helped to make our day so special. Could recommend them enough.

The guys were fantastic. I found it impossible to find a great band, that also could do Irish folk music with a fiddle. They were just what we'd hoped for energetic, great voices and unbelievable musicians. They really made our wedding. I highly recommend.

Do not hesitate… book this band. I have been to many parties with bands but you can’t compare. The energy that they bring is incredible. I had so many people commenting on just how amazing the songs were. They were extremely easy to deal with, made everything flawless and easy. The best band I have ever come across.

The Roameo Band were absolutely fantastic at our client’s wedding party from start to finish. They created such an amazing atmosphere and had everyone on the dancefloor all night. The guests absolutely loved them, and their energy and interaction with the crowd were brilliant. They were also incredibly friendly, professional, and very quick to respond throughout the planning process, which made everything so easy for us as event planners. We would highly recommend them for weddings and parties, and we would love to work with them again in the future!

Soul Destiny were absolutely fantastic. They got everyone on the dance floor, whilst still bringing a cool, relaxed vibe to the evening party. Jim was so helpful, responsive and professional leading up to the event. He adapted their music to the playlist we wanted, including allowing my mum to sing a rendition of Valerie with him! Thank you so much Soul Destiny - you made our night.

We had the best night with Alex from Rhythm Riot, he was amazing, from the set up to lights to the songs and playing the sax! The dance floor was full all night long! Couldn’t recommend enough and will definitely be a regular Rhythm Rioter!

I am so glad we chose Urban Dynamite as they really got the party started and all our guests were on the dance floor. They played all the songs we wanted to hear - we loved that they offered chart songs as well as some old classics. The rap tunes went down a storm!! We loved that they were such an interactive band, the singers came out to have a boogie with us and our guests while they sang. They were polite and professional to deal with from start to finish and we’d highly recommend them to anyone! They’re bloody marvellous!

“I very much want to relive this night.. over and over and over..” We have had the immense joy to host a party for my wife’s 40th where the Party Academics performed for us and our friends. It was the most amazing set, with a truly unique performance, and a few surprises :) I cannot recommend them more. They were extremely professional ahead of and during the event, scheduling calls to understand the vibe of the crowd, sharing as many details as possible on their sets and really delivering a unique experience for us. Everyone had a lot of fun, they made the party alive, and thanks to them we all have a night we can remember until we re-do it all again with the Party Academics for the next birthday :)
