Aside from British & American pop, rock, soul and funk, many of our London bands can perform ceilidh and folk music.

We've compiled some FAQ about hiring a London wedding band, based on our decade of experience in the industry...

How can I book a London wedding band?

It’s simple. Start by browsing band profiles to hear their sound, watch videos and read reviews. You can filter by music style, and then reach out to bands directly for availability and quotes.

Whether you’re planning your reception at The Ned, One Marylebone or a rooftop venue in East London, you’ll find bands that suit your style and your schedule.

What styles of music are available?

London bands cover just about every genre imaginable. From upbeat funk and soul to indie anthems, 90s classics, jazz standards and current chart hits, there’s something for every type of wedding and every type of couple.

What makes London wedding bands different?

With access to world-class venues and music colleges, rehearsal spaces and a non-stop gig scene, many London-based bands are full-time professionals with serious experience. They know how to read a room, manage mixed crowds and put on a polished performance.

Can I hear the band before I book?

Yes. Most bands share videos and recordings on their profiles so you can get a clear idea of their performance style. Some also play public gigs at bars or events across London, which you can attend if you want to see them live before booking.

How far in advance should I book?

For London weddings, it’s best to book your band at least 12 months in advance, especially if you’re getting married in peak season or on a Saturday. Demand is high and many of the most popular acts get booked early.

How much do wedding bands in London cost?

Here’s a rough guide to pricing:

  • Solo or duo performers: from £750
  • 3 to 5-piece bands: between £1,200 and £2,000
  • Large party or showbands: upwards of £3,500

Pricing depends on travel, equipment, time on site and the number of musicians. We’ve got a wide range of options to suit most budgets.

How long do London bands usually perform for?

Most bands offer two sets of live music, each of 60 minutes. Some acts also offer extended sets or add-ons like ceremony music or DJ services.

Can bands play both the ceremony and reception?

Yes. Many London wedding bands offer all-day packages that include background sets during the ceremony or drinks reception, followed by upbeat sets for the evening party. If you’d rather keep things flexible, you can book different musicians for different parts of the day.

Will the band bring their own equipment?

Almost always, yes. Professional wedding bands come fully equipped with PA systems, lighting and instruments. Just check with your venue (whether it's Wilton’s Music Hall, Hackney Town Hall or a private venue in Soho) about sound limits and power access. Sound limiters are increasingly common at venues in the capital (see below).

Can we make song requests?

Most bands are happy to include a few custom requests, especially for your first dance or a special moment later in the night. Many also tailor their playlist based on your preferences and will let you remove any songs you don’t want to hear.

Are there noise restrictions at London venues?

Some venues in London do have sound limitations, especially in residential areas or heritage buildings. Before booking, check if there are decibel limits or time cutoffs for live music. If needed, your band can work with the venue to adapt their setup accordingly.

What happens if we’re running behind schedule?

Delays happen, and most wedding bands will adjust where possible. However, if the delay significantly affects their schedule, you might be charged for extra time or have to shorten their set. Good communication on the day goes a long way.

Can bands play outdoors in London?

Yes, but they’ll need shelter and access to power. Many venues across London now offer courtyard, rooftop or garden wedding options. As long as weather conditions are safe, outdoor performances are usually fine.

Do we need to feed the band?

If the band is on-site for several hours, it’s good practice to provide food and drinks. Most couples offer a hot meal or allow performers to eat from the buffet, especially for evening sets that start after dinner.

Reviews from local events in London

Book Roaming Beats! They were absolutely amazing at our wedding and were so much fun. Every single song was perfect, they are all so talented and got every single person involved and dancing. I love that the band moves around and so it felt like the whole space was the party and because they didn’t amplify the sound for us, people could also still talk and hear each other. Roaming beats have been talked about non stop by our guests, they made a huge impact on our celebration and brought so much joy. THANK YOU!

Words can't really describe how incredible you are. The energy you bring, the joy you bring, and the musicianship is off the charts! There is so much heart and soul in every song and you made us feel incredibly special. You brought an extra level of style and class to our wedding day. To anyone thinking of booking them. My advice is stop thinking and just book them. It'll be one of the best decisions you make in your wedding planning. (They're brilliant at communicating in the run up to the day too) Thank you, thank you, thank you! Carl & Sarah

We hired Charisma for our wedding and they were amazing! They accommodated our requests for preferred songs from their set list and did an excellent job of adjusting their set to reflect the mood of the audience. We had a full dance floor and everyone really enjoyed and commented on how good they were. I would definitely recommend to friends and family. FixTheMusic as a service was also great, super easy to use and great communication!

Jupiter Funk was absolutely fabulous! We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding band. Despite the heatwave and unexpected change in set time, their performance was superb and our guests loved every single moment. If we did it all again, Jupiter Funk would still be our number one choice.

We just wanted to say the biggest thank you from the absolute bottom of our heart. You made our day so so special! It is not lost on us how many times we had to change it but you made it so perfect and so easy, it never became frustrating or a sad moment. You guys were incredible!! It was actually amazing! The set list was perfect and everyone loved it. I’ve lost count of how many people have text us saying that you are the best band they’ve ever heard and we can’t disagree! You made the wedding so special and unforgettable! Could not recommend you enough. Thank you so so much!

Katanya and the band were absolutely fantastic! The way they interacted with our guests, read the room with their set list and gave so much energy was amazing. We could not have been happier with how everything went. It was so easy to work with them and Katanya particularly made so much effort to ensure the show was excellent. Can’t recommend them enough! Thank you so much! Andy and Reah xx

We couldn’t have been happier with Throwing Shapes for our wedding party!! From the very beginning, the communication was excellent. Murphy directly liaised with our venue which also took the pressure off. On the day, they were absolutely fantastic. The DJ kept the dance floor packed with fun, feel-good music and loads of sing-along classics that everyone loved. The saxophonist was the highlight of the night. He got out onto the dance floor and was interacting with our guests which created such a fun atmosphere. We’d highly recommend Throwing Shapes. Thank you thank you thank you

One of my fears of putting on a big wedding was that no one would dance. You know the awful scene too well: 25 people on the dance floor for the first song; then 5-10 for the rest of the night. Embarrassing for all concerned. I need not have worried! the dance floor was PACKED from the first dance (David Bowie’s Let’s Dance) at around 10.45pm until 1.30pm. And I mean RAMMED. People danced who never dance. A 90 year old friend danced. All the teenagers went wild. I can’t rate Aptitude highly enough. They were so good that at 1am, when they were due to finish, I asked them to stay on — and they very kindly did a further 30 minutes. Incredible musicians. Phenomenal energy. Glamorous. Energetic. EXACTLY what I wanted for my wedding — and for all future parties. The live DJ concept is great — because everyone knows the hits, but the musicians bring them to life. All the guests are still raving about them. We considered hundreds of options and couldn’t be happier. Thanks so much, guys!

Honestly, the most amazing wedding band we could ever have hoped for - we have had so many comments about how insanely incredible they were! Joe and the team were great from start to finish - easy to work with, so flexible, played the songs we asked for and ever learned a new track for our first dance!!! The dance floor was rocking all night! I know we are biased as it was our wedding but honestly, don't even consider booking another band! These guys are AMAZEBALLS!!!! Thanks so much Joe and the team, you are a very, very prominent part of our lifelong memories! Love Ben and Zoe xx

The absolute best band you could hope for on your wedding day- from the planning process through to the performance on the day, we were so pleased. All of our guests were in awe and it made our day so special to have such a great band! We had everyone on the dance floor celebrating with us thanks to their high quality performance and great set list.

Thank you for your outstanding performance at The Goring Hotel for the wedding of S & J 2026. As a luxury wedding planner, I have the pleasure of working with some exceptional suppliers, and The Wandering Three are right at the top of that list. On the day, they performed as a five-piece band, and the energy, musicianship and vocals were simply fantastic! Beyond the music, they were impeccably organised, warm, flexible and a genuine pleasure to work with. Their repertoire is incredibly varied, they keep the music flowing seamlessly throughout the day, happily accommodate guest requests wherever possible, and even took care of the announcements for us, which was hugely appreciated. Most importantly, they created an atmosphere that had everyone smiling, dancing and talking about the celebration long after it had finished. A truly first-class team, and one I would recommend without hesitation for any high-end wedding or event.
