Confirmed quotes for ceilidh bands in Sussex range from £575 for a caller with backing tracks at a small village hall wedding to £2,515 for a full ceilidh and covers band at Cissbury Barns in Findon.
Most couples spend between £850 and £1,950, with a typical quote of around £1,500 for a ceilidh trio or four-piece band.
The price depends on the number of musicians, whether the band also provides covers or a DJ set for the latter part of the evening, and how far they need to travel to reach your venue.
Ceilidh Twist quoted £1,800 for a ceilidh package plus £350 for a DJ at The Oak Barn at Frame Farm near Cranbrook.
Paragon Ceilidh Band quoted £1,650 for a ceilidh and covers set at a wedding in Battle.
Several couples have asked for the band to provide both ceilidh dancing and pop covers in the same evening. Bands that combine the two, like Paragon and Ramnee Ceilidh Band, typically charge more than traditional-only ceilidh bands but save you from booking a separate covers band or DJ.
At FixTheMusic, we list top-quality ceilidh bands that have been selected by invitation only.

You were all amazing, please pass this on to each member of the band
Hi Mark, just wanted to say a massive thank you for playing at both of our events. You were all amazing, please pass this on to each member of the band who played too. Everyone we have spoken to, have all said how professional and great the band were! Thank you for doing the additional final song, that really put the cherry on top of the cake for us! Both singers were absolutely fantastic too. We would definitely consider for the future and would recommend to anyone. Thank you again, Jacob, Sue and Max.
Professional musicians who made the whole room come alive...
We booked Groove Addiction to perform at our wedding party in December, and they were nothing short of exceptional. We loved every minute of their sets. Professional musicians who made the whole room come alive - a huge thank you for making the night extra special!
The Old School 90s Band were simply brilliant...
The Old School 90s Band were simply brilliant. They recently played at our wedding and were the best band a couple could ask for. From the moment they were booked, Thom was pleasant, courteous and above all fun. On the day they set up quickly and seamlessly with no fuss at all. Then the set, it was incredible. The dance floor was full throughout and everybody complimented that this was the best band they’d heard at a wedding. Thank you so much to Thom, Alice, Nana, Connor, Kaveh and Dan...you were amazing. Love, Max & Lulu.
I just wanted to pop a note over to say how amazing the band and DJ were
Hi James, I just wanted to pop a note over to say how amazing the band and DJ were. Everyone absolutely loved them and the band really made the night! So much fun. Please pass on my thanks and feedback to the band... we’d have them back in a heartbeat! Thank you for all your help in the arrangements - it went seamlessly. Literally in the office all day, all I’ve heard is how amazing the band were - the guys smashed it! Hannah.
Confirmed quotes on FixTheMusic for ceilidh bands in Sussex range from £575 to £2,515, with most couples spending between £850 and £1,950. A ceilidh trio typically costs around £900 to £1,200, while a four or five-piece ceilidh and covers band charges £1,500 to £2,500. Adding a DJ set for the latter part of the evening usually adds £300 to £400. The price varies with the number of musicians, travel distance and whether the band also provides covers.
Yes. Several of our most-booked Sussex ceilidh bands, including Paragon Ceilidh Band and Ramnee Ceilidh Band, combine traditional ceilidh dancing with a pop and rock covers set. A couple in Battle booked Paragon for exactly this format, with the band learning a special first dance song alongside the ceilidh sets. One couple at The Oak Barn near Cranbrook asked for quotes on both the ceilidh-plus-covers option and the ceilidh-plus-DJ option before deciding.
Most ceilidh bands can adapt to venue constraints. One couple at the Dome Cinema in Worthing were told the venue could not have drums because the cinema downstairs would be open during their event. Ceilidh bands are naturally quieter than full electric party bands, and traditional lineups featuring fiddle, accordion and acoustic guitar work well in venues with decibel limits. If your venue has a sound limiter, let the bands know when you enquire so they can adjust their setup.
Ceilidh dancing works best with at least 25 to 30 guests on the dance floor at once, so we recommend a minimum of 50 to 60 guests at your event. Several couples in Sussex have booked ceilidh bands for smaller weddings of 40 to 50 guests and reported packed dance floors. One couple at Queen's Hall in Cuckfield had 50 guests and told us they were unsure whether they could afford a full band, but wanted a caller at minimum. The caller is the key ingredient for getting guests involved, regardless of group size.
Yes. Every ceilidh band includes a caller who walks your guests through each dance before the music starts. You do not need any prior experience. A couple in Sharpthorne, West Sussex, told us their ceilidh got everyone on their feet "from five-year-olds to seventy-five-year-olds" and that the caller was "encouraging, clear and easy to follow." Another couple who booked Ceilidh Twist for their anniversary at Chichester Hall in Witley said "those who had never ceilidh'd before were complete converts" after the caller guided them through the dances.
Barn venues work particularly well for ceilidhs because they offer the open floor space the dancing requires. The Oak Barn at Frame Farm near Cranbrook, a popular eco-wedding venue that has drawn six ceilidh enquiries on FixTheMusic alone, is our most-booked Sussex ceilidh venue. Cissbury Barns in Findon near Worthing, a converted barn with exposed beams, and Pangdean Old Barn in Pyecombe near Brighton are also popular choices. Highley Manor in Balcombe near Haywards Heath, set in 15 acres of gardens, has drawn several ceilidh enquiries for 2026 and 2027 weddings.
Village halls like Queen's Hall in Cuckfield and the Holbrook Club in Horsham are well suited to smaller ceilidhs, with enough space for dancing and good access for band equipment. Southend Barns near Chichester and Chidham Barn on the Chichester harbour are Sussex flint barn venues that couples have booked for ceilidh weddings. Outdoor ceilidhs work under stretch tents or marquees, provided the band has cover and a safe power supply. One couple planning a mini-festival in Ansty near Haywards Heath requested an outdoor ceilidh under stretch tents with a DJ afterwards.
Yes. Several of our ceilidh bands cover both Scottish and Irish dance traditions. One couple celebrating at Knepp Wilding Kitchen near Horshan requested "a mix of Irish and Scottish folk and ceilidh to honour our respective heritages." Another couple booked a 70th birthday ceilidh in Horsham specifically asking for Irish ceili music alongside the Scottish dances, because the birthday guest was from Northern Ireland.
Most Sussex ceilidh bookings are for two sets of 45 minutes, with a 30-minute break in between. Some couples opt for shorter sets of 30 to 40 minutes each. One couple at The Oak Barn near Cranbrook planned two "fairly short sets of 30 to 45 minutes" followed by a DJ until 10:30pm. Another at a venue in Battle asked the band to start between 7:30 and 8pm for a single one-hour set. Ceilidh dancing is physically energetic for both guests and musicians, so longer is not always better.
