Gone are the days when an off-key vocalist would croon over dodgy backing tracks, blasting out Stevie Wonder and Abba (to do these two incredible artists no disrespect).

2025 promises to be a big year for these popular trends so let’s take a look at them in more detail.

From the trend-setting clubs of Ibiza came this concept in recent years. Primarily based on classic and modern house music, the music combines a live DJ with amplified saxophone and sometimes live percussion, e.g. a bongo player.
It’s not just the house genre and its variants that benefit from this instrumental treatment. Pop and rock covers can be given a modern twist with this combination.
It’s a particularly dynamic and spectacular set-up, allowing for the sax and bongo player to roam amongst your guests as they accompany the DJ’s beats.

A roaming band provides something truly unique at weddings and events as the musicians move between guests and interact with the crowd.
Most roaming bands are acoustic so more suitable for intimate events like small weddings or parties but some roaming bands (e.g. NOMAD) are wirelessly amplified and able to provide high-energy pop and rock covers for dancing.
In NOMAD’s case, the lead singer uses a wireless mic of course. Backing vocals are provided by the other band members via headsets.
Instruments-wise, guitar and bass are plugged into wireless battery packs and the drums are provided by a very nifty wheeled cajon.
We have several outstanding roaming bands on FixTheMusic who perform at weddings in the UK and worldwide.
Examples include NOMAD Lite, Wandering Three, The London Roaming Band and The Free Roamers.

Mumford & Sons style wedding bands are still as popular as ever and certainly provide something a bit different for the musical entertainment.
They create a rustic and folky vibe which is highly suitable for wedding venues like barns and country houses, as well as outdoor weddings or tipi weddings.
Usually such bands will perform their first set acoustically, adding the folky vibe with a banjo, or maybe even a violin.
So the first set will feature popular rock and chart music delivered in this Mumford style.
For their second set, many of these bands offer a fully electric set to get guests onto the dance floor.
The band will usually dress a la Mumford & Sons attire to complete the spectacle.
We have several of this type of wedding band who perform at weddings in the UK and worldwide.
Examples include The Hot Gates, The Scene and The Caves.

We have certainly noticed that most wedding clients prefer a male singer. While it’s not certain why this is the case, it’s a trend that has kept its popularity right into 2025.
It could be that clients are looking to recreate the sound of all-male bands or the type of music that lends itself more to male vocals rather than female, arguably classic indie pop/rock from the 90s and 2000s.
Either way, there’s no great need to analyse why this is the case, and there are probably several factors at play here.
FixTheMusic has several outstanding and popular female-fronted wedding bands, but they are certainly outnumbered by male-led groups.
Examples of our popular male-led wedding bands include Scintillate, Hot Swing, Up The Ante, The Manhattans and The Score.

More couples are revisiting the tunes of their youth. Today’s newlyweds (many in their 30s) often grew up on 90s and early-2000s pop, R&B and dance hits, and they want those anthems live on the dance floor. FixTheMusic research shows that couples want music that reflects their personal tastes and childhood memories: whether that’s 90s kitsch pop such as Britney Spears or Britpop, Garage and Hip Hop.
In practice, this means booking cover bands that specialise in 90s nostalgia. Bands like The Old School 90s Band who bring the best of 1990s pop, dance, RnB and hip hop to your party.
Expect high-energy live versions of hits from the Spice Girls to the Backstreet Boys, with both male/female vocals and full band sound. Guests of all ages end up singing along; from Mum belting out Cher’s Believe to teens revelling in classic boy-band choreography. The experience is a vibrant, feel‑good singalong: think glow sticks, confetti and a dance floor packed to the brim with everyone reliving their teenage mixtape.
Alongside pure nostalgia, there’s a strong turn toward live indie and rock covers. Many couples want more Killers and Kings of Leon and less Ed Sheeran or Michael Bublé.
Bands like The Tourists, The Britpop Covers Band or The Incognitos specialise in anthemic Britpop and indie hits: guitars and drums driving sing-alongs to Wonderwall, Bittersweet Symphony or Sex on Fire.
The vibe is youthful and energetic: guests hear the anthems they lived through (from Coldplay to Kasabian) delivered live, often with enthusiastic crowd participation. You’ll see people jumping to Blur’s Song 2, couples slow-dancing to Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know, and everyone leaving the dance floor thrilled by that familiar Britpop swagger.
In short, indie-leaning cover bands turn your reception into a cool, up-to-date rock party that still feels deeply personal to the couple.
Feel‑good soul, funk and Motown never seem to go out of style – in fact, they’re back with a fresh energy. Modern soul bands on FixTheMusic now often feature full horn sections, driving guitars and dual male/female vocalists, delivering classic Motown hits and funky mashups.
Acts like Big Soul Beats, Jaguar Soul or Scintillate pack the dance floor with covers of Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Marvin Gaye - but with a 2025 twist.
You might hear a Motown classic segue into a modern pop hit, or see a singer jump into the crowd with a tambourine during Signed, Sealed, Delivered.
In other words, couples can expect a live “legendary nightclub” feel: a tight funk groove that feels timeless, with surprise elements that keep even Grandma moving.
The end result is magical; you’ll be dancing in a wave of wah‑wah guitar and brassy choruses that never lets the party quit
