“The Italian Riviera Swing Band played our wedding in Umbria in September, from the ceremony through to the end of dinner. Celeste’s voice is something else. We’d sent her a list of songs that mattered to us, including a few she had to learn from scratch, and she sang every single one of them beautifully. Half our guests were in tears during the ceremony. Later, when we walked in for dinner, the whole room was singing along. Their repertoire is huge and the timing was perfect throughout. They knew exactly when to fill the room and when to sit back so people could talk. Our guests kept coming up to us about them all evening. Planning with Celeste beforehand was easy from the very first email. She replied quickly, thought of things we hadn’t, sent us a clear plan well in advance, and even asked about our colours so the band would fit in with the rest of the day. How Italian Weddings Are Structured
Italian weddings typically follow a multi-part format that spans the entire day, and our bands are experienced at providing the right music for each moment:
Ceremony — Many couples marry in a church or at a civil ceremony at the venue. Bands offer instrumental music (piano and clarinet, or guitar duo) for the entrance, signing and recessional. Some churches only permit sacred music, so check with your venue.
Aperitivo — The drinks reception is a defining feature of Italian weddings, usually lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. Couples choose acoustic duos, roaming bands, jazz trios or saxophone with DJ to create a relaxed, social atmosphere. Dinner — Background music during dinner is common, either via a band's PA system or a live acoustic set. Some bands offer a short live performance during dinner alongside recorded playlists.
After-dinner party — The main live band set or DJ/sax performance kicks off after dinner, typically two 45-minute or two 60-minute sets, with DJ music between and after.
